Chromium supplementation improved post-stroke brain infarction and hyperglycemia.
In this study, we investigated whether post-stroke hyperglycemia involved chromium dynamic mobilization in a rat model of permanent focal cerebral ischemia and whether dietary supplement of chromium improved post-stroke injury and alterations. Stroke rats developed brain infarction, hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, glucose intolerance, and insulin resistance. Post-stroke hyperglycemia was accompanied by elevated secretion of counter-regulatory hormones including glucagon, corticosterone, and norepinephrine, decreased insulin signaling in skeletal muscles, and increased hepatic gluconeogenesis. Correlation studies revealed ...

GSE232936 Gene expression profiles of endothelium, microglia and oligodendrocytes in hippocampus of post-stroke depression rat at single cell resolution
This study characterized the single cell expression profile of hippocampal PSD, and unmask the differential expressed genes of endothelium, microglia and oligodendrocytes, emphasizing the crosstalk among them to provide theoretical basis for the in-depth mechanism research and drug therapy of PSD.

One-year outcome of a prospective trial stopping dual antiplatelet therapy at 3 months after everolimus-eluting cobalt-chromium stent implantation: ShortT and OPtimal duration of Dual AntiPlatelet Therapy after everolimus-eluting cobalt-chromium stent (STOPDAPT) trial
In conclusion, stopping DAPT at 3 months in selected patients after CoCr-EES implantation was at least as safe as the prolonged DAPT regimen adopted in the historical control group.

Plasma Metal Concentrations and Incident Coronary Heart Disease in Chinese Adults: The Dongfeng-Tongji Cohort
Conclusions: Our study suggested that incident CHD was positively associated with plasma levels of titanium and arsenic, and inversely associated with selenium. Additional research is needed to confirm these findings in other populations. https://doi.org/10.1289/EHP1521 Received: 22 December 2016 Revised: 17 September 2017 Accepted: 19 September 2017 Published: 19 October 2017 Address correspondence to T. Safety and efficacy of the surpass streamline for intracranial aneurysms (SESSIA): A multi-center US experience pooled analysis
CONCLUSION: This is the largest cohort study using a 72-96 wire flow diverter. The Surpass Streamline demonstrated a favorable safety and efficacy profile, making it a valuable option for treating not only large but also wide-necked small and medium-sized intracranial aneurysms.PMID:35934939 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221118148

Effects of cylinder liner surface topography on friction and wear of liner-ring system at low temperature
Publication date: May 2018 Source:Tribology International, Volume 121 Author(s): Wieslaw Grabon, Pawel Pawlus, Slawomir Wos, Waldemar Koszela, Michal Wieczorowski The experiments were carried out using an Optimol SRV5 oscillating wear tester under lubrication. Specimens were cut from gray cast iron cylinder liners honed and/or plateau honed with diamond or ceramic stones. Counter-specimens were cut from chromium-coated compression ring. Short time tests of 30 min duration were conducted at a temperature of −20 °C, with a stroke of 3 mm. In addition, for a few sliding assemblies, durations of tests at the low temp...

Boston Scientific ’s Shining Moment at TCT
Perhaps one of Boston Scientific’s greatest moments at the 31st Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), the annual scientific symposium of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, came when the company announced primary endpoint results from the EVOLVE Short DAPT clinical trial. The Marlborough, MA-based company said the trial evaluated its Synergy Bioabsorbable Polymer (BP) stent and that the EVOLVE is first prospective study initiated in the U.S. to examine the safety of a shortened duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in patients at high risk for bleeding. Results and demonstrated that ...
