Neuregulin-1/PI3K signaling effects on oligodendrocyte proliferation, remyelination and behaviors deficit in a male mouse model of ischemic stroke
In this study, we investigated the effect of neuregulin-1 (NRG1) on demyelination and neurological function in an ischemic stroke model, and further explored its neuroprotective mechanisms. Adult male ICR mice underwent photothrombotic ischemia surgery and were injected with NRG1 beginning 30 min after ischemia. Cylinder and grid walking tests were performed to evaluate the forepaw function. Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is the most common cause of acute kidney failure in children under five years of age, following a gastrointestinal infection with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) and characterized by the presence of microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and acute kidney injury (1). Central Nervous System (CNS) involvements are seen in 15% of cases, with clinical manifestations ranging from obnubilation to coma, seizures, stroke, and cortical blindness (2).

Lipopolysaccharide-induced sepsis-like state compromises post-ischemic neurological recovery, brain tissue survival and remodeling via mechanisms involving microvascular thrombosis and brain T cell infiltration.
Abstract Sepsis predisposes for poor stroke outcome. This association suggests that sepsis disturbs post-ischemic tissue survival and brain remodeling. Microbiological Etiologies of Pneumonia Complicating Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Although the analysis was limited by small and heterogeneous study populations, limiting determination of microbiological causality, this review suggests aerobic Gram-negative bacilli and Gram-positive cocci are frequently associated with pneumonia complicating stroke. This supports the need for appropriately designed studies to determine microbial cause and a consensus-based approach in antibiotic usage and further targeted antibiotic treatment trials for enhanced antibiotic stewardship.

Dysautonomia may also be present including severe dysphagia, orthostatics and retention.Zika RNA has a short detection window in serum and CSF making a diagnosis time sensitive.
