The use of bedside echocardiography for measuring cardiac index and systemic vascular resistance in pediatric patients with septic shock
Conclusion: There was a persistently high systemic vascular resistance index in cold shock patients that influenced the stroke volume index, cardiac index, and velocity time integral. The use of echocardiograms for hemodynamic measurements is important in pediatric septic shock patients to adjust dilators, and vasopressor doses and achieve resuscitation targets in a timely manner.

Gastrointestinal complications after cardiac surgery: 10‐year experience of a single Australian centre
ConclusionsGI complications after cardiac surgery remain an uncommon but dreadful complication associated with high mortality. Our findings should prompt a high degree of clinical vigilance in order to make an early diagnosis especially in high risk patients. Further studies aiming to identify independent predictors for GI complications after cardiac surgery are warranted.

Disproportionate effects of dementia on hospital discharge disposition in common hospitalization categories
CONCLUSIONSDementia proportions in many hospitalization categories have increased. The variable effect of dementia on home discharge suggests that dementia has a differential influence on hospital discharge disposition depending on the DRG. Incidence of fatal snake bite in Australia: A coronial based retrospective study (2000-2016).
