A prognostic model for interventional thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke based on a BP neural network, random forest model and decision tree model
CONCLUSION: The three prediction models have shown good diagnostic efficacy and stability in the preliminary study of the prognosis of AIS mediated thrombectomy, which has important guiding significance for clinical prognosis assessment and selection of appropriate surgical population. The prediction model can be selected according to the actual situation of patients to provide more efficient guidance for clinicians.PMID:37303675 | PMC:PMC10250994

Functional and technical outcomes in acute ischemic stroke patients with hyperdense middle cerebral artery sign treated with endovascular thrombectomy
ConclusionPatients with HMCAS treated with EVT do not have a worse outcome at 3  months compared with no-HMCAS patients. Patients with HMCAS required a greater number of thrombus passes and longer procedure times.

The efficacy and safety of fluoxetine versus placebo for stroke recovery: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
ConclusionFluoxetine improved FMMS and reduced anxiety and depression. More well-designed and large sample-size RCTs are required to further analyze the efficacy of fluoxetine in post-stroke recovery.

Prediction of blood pressure variability during thrombectomy using supervised machine learning and outcomes of patients with ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion
AbstractMechanical thrombectomy (MT) is the standard of care for patients with acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion (AIS-LVO). The association of blood pressure variability (BPV) during MT and outcomes are unknown. We leveraged a supervised machine learning algorithm to predict patient characteristics that are associated with BPV indices. We performed a retrospective review of our comprehensive stroke center ’s registry of all adult patients undergoing MT between 01/01/2016 and 12/31/2019. The primary outcome was poor functional independence, defined as 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) ≥ 3. We used p...

Tetracycline-, Doxycycline-, Minocycline-Induced Pseudotumor Cerebri and Esophageal Perforation
AbstractTetracyclines are a class of broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotics used to treat many infections, including methicillin-resistantStaphylococcus aureus (MRSA), acne, pelvic inflammatory disease, chlamydial infections, and a host of zoonotic infections. These drugs work by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacterial ribosomes, specifically by disallowing aminoacyl-tRNA molecules from binding to the ribosomal acceptor sites. While rare, tetracycline antibiotics, particularly minocycline and doxycycline, are associated with an increased risk of developing esophageal perforation and pseudotumor cerebri (PTC, or idiopa...

Prognostic value of pretreatment diffusion-weighted imaging score for acute basilar artery occlusion with successful endovascular recanalization
ConclusionsThe PMT score seems to predict clinical outcome of ABAO patients with successful recanalization.
