Visit-to-Visit Heart Rate Variability in the Prediction of Clinical Outcomes of Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSION: VVV-HR is an independent predictor for adverse clinical outcomes in patients with AF. A J-curve appearance was demonstrated for the effect of VVV-HR on all-cause death.PMID:37116533 | DOI:10.1055/s-0043-1768580

The thrombus proteome in stroke reveals a key role of the innate immune system and new insights associated with its aetiology, severity and prognosis
CONCLUSIONS: The use of the SWATH-MS in thrombi from IS patients has provided new insights of pathways and players involved in its aetiology, severity and prognosis. The prominent role of the innate immune system identified might pave the way for the development of new biomarkers and therapeutic approaches in this disease.PMID:37100394 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtha.2023.04.015

Atrial fibrillation in cancer: thromboembolism and bleeding in daily practice
CONCLUSION: Patients with AF and active cancer experience high rates of thromboembolic and bleeding complications, underlying the complexity of anticoagulant management in these patients. Our data suggest that the presence of cancer is an important factor in determining the indication for anticoagulants in patients with a low CHA2DS2-VASc score.PMID:37063771 | PMC:PMC10099322 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2023.100096

Elevated thrombin generation levels in the left atrial appendage in patients with atrial fibrillation
CONCLUSION: In patients with AF undergoing catheter ablation, the LAA demonstrated increased thrombin generation compared with the LA. This finding might contribute to the understanding of why the LAA is more predisposed to thrombus formation than the LA.CLINICAL TRIALS REGISTRATION: NCT03795883.PMID:37063762 | PMC:PMC10099305 | DOI:10.1016/j.rpth.2023.100127

Niemann-Pick C1 protein regulates platelet membrane-associated Ca < sup > 2+ < /sup > signalling in thrombo-occlusive diseases in mice
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings highlight that NPC1 regulates membrane-associated and SERCA3-dependent Ca2+ mobilisation during platelet activation and that MK/platelet-specific ablation of Npc1 protects against experimental models of arterial thrombosis and myocardial or cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.PMID:37054918 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtha.2023.03.038

Intravenous Thrombolysis or Medical Management for Minor Strokes
CONCLUSION: Compared with MM, IVT does not reduce mortality in minor ischemic stroke but improves functional outcomes in minor stroke with an NIHSS score of 3 to 5.PMID:37037201 | DOI:10.1055/s-0043-1768150
