Thrombin in complex with dabigatran can still interact with PAR-1 via exosite-I and instigate loss of vascular integrity
CONCLUSIONS: Proteolytically inactive thrombin in complex with dabigatran evokes loss of barrier function that can be prevented by a PAR-1 mimicking peptide blocking thrombin's exosite-I.PMID:35037739 | DOI:10.1111/jth.15642

Impact of COVID-19 on thrombus composition and response to thrombolysis: Insights from a monocentric cohort population of COVID-19 patients with acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: These results show that COVID-19 does not impact NETs content or worsen fibrinolysis resistance of AIS thrombi, a therapeutic hurdle that could be overcome by DNase 1 even in the context of SARS-Cov-2 infection.PMID:35032088 | DOI:10.1111/jth.15646

Thrombo-inflammatory biomarkers and D-dimer in a biracial cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Findings suggest that D-dimer might relate to Black/White differences in cardiovascular diseases and venous thromboembolism because it is a marker of amplified thrombo-inflammatory response in Black people. Better understanding of contributors to higher D-dimer in the general population is needed.PMID:34934895 | PMC:PMC8652130 | DOI:10.1002/rth2.12632

The PAR4 platelet thrombin receptor variant rs773902 does not impact the incidence of thrombotic or bleeding events in a healthy older population
CONCLUSIONS: This post-hoc analysis of a prospective cohort study suggests that, despite sensitizing platelet activation, the rs773902 PAR4 variant is not associated with thrombotic cardiovascular or bleeding events in a healthy older population.PMID:34852379 | DOI:10.1055/a-1711-1395

2021 Focused Update Consensus Guidelines of the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society on Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation: Executive Summary
Thromb Haemost. 2021 Nov 13. doi: 10.1055/s-0041-1739411. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe consensus of the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society (APHRS) on stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation (AF) has been published in 2017 which provided useful clinical guidance for cardiologists, neurologists, geriatricians, and general practitioners in the Asia-Pacific region. In these years, many important new data regarding stroke prevention in AF were reported. The practice guidelines subcommittee members comprehensively reviewed updated information on stroke prevention in AF, and summarized them in this 2021 focused update of the...
