Selective inhibition of carboxypeptidase U may reduce microvascular thrombosis in rat experimental stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: A pronounced activation of the CPU system was observed during tMCAO in rats. Selective inhibition of CPU with AZD9684 was able to reduce fibrinogen deposition and brain edema, suggesting a reduction of MT but without a significant effect on final infarct volume. Bleeding Complications Drive In-Hospital Mortality of Patients with Atrial Fibrillation after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement.

Evaluation of Oral Factor Xa inhibitor-associated Extracranial Bleeding Reversal with Andexanet alfa.
CONCLUSION: We report poor overall outcomes, a low rate of hemostatic effectiveness, and a high rate of ischemic complications and mortality in this retrospective analysis of oral FXa inhibitor reversal with andexanet alfa for extracranial bleeds. More rigorous epidemiological, and ideally randomized studies are needed to determine the role of andexanet alfa for FXa inhibitor-associated bleeding for extracranial hemorrhages, where large variation in severity and presentation exists. Paradoxical Increase of Stroke in Patients with Defect of High Molecular Weight Multimers of the von Willebrand Factors following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement.

Apixaban for Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation: Why are Event Rates Higher in Clinical Practice than in Randomized Trials?-A Systematic Review.

High molecular weight kininogen contributes to early mortality and kidney dysfunction in a mouse model of sickle cell disease.
CONCLUSIONS: We found elevated plasma levels of cleaved HK in sickle patients compared to healthy controls, suggesting ongoing HK activation in SCD. We used bone marrow transplantation to generate wild type and sickle cell mice on a HK-deficient background. We found that short-term HK deficiency attenuated thrombin generation and inflammation in sickle mice at steady state, which was independent of bradykinin signaling. Serial measurement of interleukin-6 and risk of mortality in anticoagulated patients with atrial fibrillation: Insights from ARISTOTLE and RE-LY trials.

Predicting Adverse Events beyond Stroke and Bleeding with the ABC-Stroke and ABC-Bleeding Scores in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: The Murcia AF Project.
CONCLUSION:  In AF patients, the ABC-stroke and ABC-bleeding scores demonstrated similar predictive ability for outcomes beyond stroke and bleeding, including MI, acute HF, a composite of cardiovascular events, and all-cause deaths. Macrothrombosis and stroke in patients with mild Covid-19 infection.
We describe cases of patients in New York City presenting with stroke secondary to large vessel thrombosis without occlusion, incidentally found to have COVID-19 with only mild respiratory symptoms. This is in contrast to the venous thrombosis and microangiopathy that has been reported in patients with severe COVID-19. Our cases suggest that even in the absence of severe disease, patients with COVID-19 may be at increased risk of thrombus formation leading to stroke, perhaps due to viral involvement of the endothelium. Coagulopathy signature precedes and predicts severity of end-organ heat stroke pathology in a mouse model.
