Epidemiology of stroke in Finnish patients with Huntington's disease
ConclusionCerebrovascular disease is as common in patients with HD as in the general population, but minor cerebrovascular events and vascular risk factors may remain unrecognized. Genetic burden of the HTT mutation does not appear to increase the risk of stroke.

Socioeconomic factors’ effect on return to work after first stroke
ConclusionPatients with low socioeconomic status less often RTW 1 year after stroke.Impaired functional status after stroke is more common in patients with lower socioeconomic status and mediates socioeconomic differences in RTW. Improvement of functional status should be targeted to facilitate RTW among stroke patients with low socioeconomic status.

The impact of physical function on participation in the first year post ‐stroke
ConclusionsThe findings indicate that to improve participation during the first year post‐stroke, physical functioning as well as emotional and cognitive health can be important areas of concern when forming rehabilitation interventions.

Elevated body temperature in ischemic stroke associated with neurological improvement
ConclusionsWe found an inverse association between admission body temperature and neurological improvement within few hours after admission. This finding may be limited to patients with documented proximal middle cerebral artery occlusion on admission and suggests a beneficial effect of higher body temperature on clot lysis within the first three hours.

Impact of the Swedish National Stroke Campaign on stroke awareness
ConclusionThe nationwide campaign substantially increased knowledge about the AKUT test and intention to call 112 when experiencing or observing stroke symptoms, but knowledge declined post‐intervention. Repeated public information therefore appears essential to sustain knowledge gains.

Restless legs syndrome and its variants in acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionRLS/RLS variants were found in 8% of acute ischemic stroke patients. Adequate screening and management are needed to improve patients ’ quality of life. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Intravenous thrombolysis in ischemic stroke with unknown onset using CT perfusion
ConclusionDelayed stroke patients with unknown onset time were no different than patients >4.5 h regarding eligibility and response to CTP‐based i.v. thrombolysis.

Body temperature and major neurological improvement in tPA‐treated stroke patients
ConclusionHigher body temperature was independently associated with MNI in severe ischaemic stroke patients treated with tPA. This may suggest a beneficial effect of higher body temperature on clot lysis and recanalization.

Ischemic stroke in patients older and younger than 80 years
ConclusionAvoiding neurological worsening may have a large potential for reducing the difference in short‐term outcome between old and young stroke patients by preventing treatable complications including pneumonia. Risk factor burden is important for long‐term survival in both stroke patients ≥80 years and <80 years.

Routine serum C‐reactive protein and stroke outcome after intravenous thrombolysis
ConclusionsAccording to our findings, elevated routine serum CRP measured within 24 h after admission does not seem to independently affect the outcome in patients receiving intravenous thrombolysis for stroke. However, further studies of blood samples taken directly before the treatment are needed.

Prevalence of migraine headache in an in‐patient stroke population
ConclusionsThe prevalence of migraine in this hospital‐based stroke cohort was comparable to the estimated prevalence of migraine usually described in population studies. In our study population, the prevalence of migraine with aura was higher than expected. The increased prevalence of PFO in patients with migraine headache corresponds well to previous population studies.

Recognition of posterior circulation stroke
ConclusionsDespite being of typical age for multiple cardiovascular conditions the PC‐ICH patients less often have a previous history of AF or dyslipidemia than IS patients do. The vomiting PC‐ICH patient with hypertensive BP values often has headache and a red flag for hemorrhage is warfarin treatment.
