Association between nocturnal blood pressure variation and wake-up ischemic stroke
In this study, we used ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) to examine the association between WUS and variation in nocturnal BP. A total of 369 patients with ischemic stroke within one week were consecutively enrolled. Carotid artery disease and perioperative stroke risk after surgical aortic valve replacement: A nationwide inpatient sample analysis
In conclusion, perioperative stroke risk has remained more or less constant despite advancements in surgical techniques with risk having gone up in patients <65years of age. CS and cerebral arterial occlusion significantly increase stroke risk following SAVR. Improved patient selection with pre-operative risk stratification and institution of preventive strategies are necessary to improve operative outcomes following SAVR.

We present a striking example of hypertrophic olivary degeneration after cerebellar hemorrhage. This case highlights some important teaching points: unique response of the inferior olivary nucleus to de-afferentation, anatomy of Mollaret’s triangle and clinical manifestations of disruption in Mollaret’s triangle. Reversible hemispheric hypoperfusion in two cases of SMART syndrome
We present two cases demonstrating reversible hemispheric hypoperfusion. Case 1 presented with left hemispheric symptoms following previous similar episodes. CT perfusion (CTP) demonstrated reversible hemispheric hypoperfusion; subsequent investigations were consistent with SMART syndrome. Case 2 presented following the third episode of a hemispheric syndrome with near-identical CTP abnormalities. L-arginine was administered with rapid reversal of clinical and CTP abnormalities. Association of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes hospital admission with extreme temperature in Nanchang, China —A case-crossover study
This study suggests that extreme high temperature might be a risk factor for both hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, and that extreme low temperature might be a risk factor of hemorrhagic stroke. Prognostic value of peripheral leukocyte counts and plasma glucose in intracerebral haemorrhage
Conclusion These results suggest that a logistic regression model using low admission glucose and low total leukocyte count may be markers of better prognosis in acute haemorrhagic stroke with a differential effect between sexes.
