Inter-racial differences in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation
Conclusions There were significant differences in baseline and procedural factors among Asian and non-Asian patients who underwent TAVI. Observed inter-racial differences in clinical outcomes were largely explained by baseline differences in clinical, anatomical and procedural factors. Trial registration number NCT03826264 (https://wwwclinicaltrialsgov).

Temporal trend of first-ever ischaemic stroke incidence from 2010 to 2019 in South Korea: a nationwide retrospective cohort study
Conclusions Age-standardised incidence rate of ischaemic stroke has decreased from 2010 to 2019 for both man and women. The incidence rate was stable in the younger age groups and decreased in the older age groups, and the disparities between income groups have widened over the past decade. Stroke prevention strategies are needed for the younger age group and the low-income group. Further research is needed to study the risk factors contributing to the incidence of ischaemic stroke in different groups.

Role of Neurosurgeons in the Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke in the Emergency Room
CONCLUSION: The neurosurgeon group showed similar door-to-treatment time and clinical outcomes to the neurologist group in patients with AIS in the ER. This study suggests that neurosurgeons have comparable abilities to care for patients with AIS in the ER.PMID:35974432 | DOI:10.3340/jkns.2022.0085

Cardiovascular risk associated with allopurinol or benzbromarone treatment in patients with gout
CONCLUSION: In this study, significant difference was not found in CV risk between allopurinol and benzbromarone initiators. In the high-CV-risk group, the incidence of CV events did not differ between allopurinol and benzbromarone initiators.PMID:35966182 | PMC:PMC9373176 | DOI:10.1177/1759720X221116409

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 9975: Elastic Dynamic Sling on Subluxation of Hemiplegic Shoulder in Patients with Subacute Stroke: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusions: The subluxation distance showed better results in the elastic dynamic sling, which has both proximal and distal parts, than in the Bobath sling, which holds only the proximal part. Both shoulder orthoses showed improvements in the modified Barthel index, upper-extremity function, and manual muscle testing.

Effect of income level on stroke incidence and the mediated effect of simultaneous diagnosis of metabolic syndrome diseases; a nationwide cohort study in South Korea
This study aimed to determine whether a simultaneous diagnosis of main components of metabolic syndrome (MetS) (hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia) plays a mediator between income level and stroke.

Short- and long-term mortality of subarachnoid hemorrhage according to hospital volume and severity using a nationwide multicenter registry study
ConclusionShort- and long-term mortality in patients with SAH differed according to hospital volume. In the modern endovascular era, clipping and coiling can lead to better outcomes in facilities with high stroke-care capabilities.

Comparison of carotid artery calcification between stroke and nonstroke patients using CT angiographic and panoramic images
CONCLUSIONS: On both CTA and panoramic images, although CAC is found more frequently in the stroke group, vessel-outlined shaped CAC in the nonstorke group shows significant differences compared to other shapes.PMID:35925038 | DOI:10.1259/dmfr.20210500
