Evaluation of anti-atherosclerotic effects of Sitagliptin via modulation of the mTOR pathway in male rabbits
This study aimed to investigate the effect of Sitagliptin on the progression of atherosclerosis. Twenty-one male New Zealand White rabbits weighing 2-2.5 kg each were split into three groups: normal control, atherogenic control, and Sitagliptin-treated. Device-detected atrial fibrillation in a large remote-monitored cohort: implications for anticoagulation and need for new pathways of service delivery
ConclusionsDespite being intensively managed via RM software system incorporating cues for anticoagulation, a substantial proportion of patients with increased stroke risk remained unanticoagulated after a device-detected AF episode of significant duration. Effects of Enhanced Intracranial Pressure on Blood Pressure and the Cardio-Ankle Vascular Index in Rabbits.
CONCLUSION: Increased ICP causes an increase in BP and CAVI, suggesting that enhanced stiffness of the muscular arteries contributes to high BP. Blocking the autonomic nervous system with hexamethonium suppresses the increase in BP and CAVI, indicating that these increases are mediated by activation of the autonomic nervous system. Abstract Utstein-style reporting templates provide a structured framework with which to compare systems of care for cardiac arrest. The 2004 Utstein reporting template encompassed both out-of-hospital and in-hospital cardiac arrest. Pioneering Australia ’s First Atrial Fibrillation Guidelines
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in clinical practice, and has a major impact on morbidity and mortality; linked to one in 12 deaths in Australia [2]. Though appropriate rhythm management and stroke prevention are essential, arguably, prevention is likely to achieve the greatest impact on these outcomes. These Australian-first guidelines [1], developed by the Heart Foundation and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, incorporate the latest contemporary evidence in AF prevention by recommending a holistic approach.
