Stroke Mimics: Experience of a Moroccan Stroke Unit
The objective of this study was to evaluate the frequency and the various etiologies of stroke mimics in our center. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the Thrombolysis Alert registry and we studied the frequency and characteristics of patients with stroke mimic. Results: Among 673 patients who were admitted to the emergency department within 4.5 hours for sudden focal neurological deficit suggestive of acute stroke, 105 patients (15.6 %) had a stroke mimic.

Changing the face of stroke care in the Middle East North Africa region
The Middle East North Africa consists of seventeen countries and extends Eastern Asia to Morocco in the West. The region has an estimated population of 411 million. In the absence of good quality data on stroke incidence and prevalence from the region, the exact burden of this devastating disease is hard to determine. However, as these countries undergo epidemiological transition, the burden of non-communicable diseases is found to be on the rise and a recent review of the available literature, suggests an increase in the stroke incidence and mortality in the region [1].

Is the reduction of salt in the bread consumed in Morocco could be a means of protection against cardiovascular diseases?
ConclusionThis study highlights the effectiveness of awareness campaigns through the KAP for reducing the use of salt in bread-making. Knowing that the daily consumption of bread in Morocco varied between 360 and 500 g, this reduction of 26.3% of the salt in the bread certainly has a very positive impact on the CVD protection.

Moyamoya disease in a Moroccan baby: a case report
ConclusionThis case highlights the importance of considering moyamoya disease to be one of the classic etiologies of acute ischemic strokes in children from North Africa. It also emphasizes the rare presentation among the African population and the use of neurovascular imaging techniques to facilitate diagnosis of moyamoya disease.

Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase Gene Polymorphisms (C677T and A1298C) and Hemorrhagic Stroke in Moroccan Patients
The number of deaths from hemorrhagic strokes is about twice as high than the number of deaths from ischemic strokes. Genetic risk assessment could play important roles in preventive and therapeutic strategies. The present study was aimed to evaluate whether the MTHFR gene polymorphisms could increase the risk of cerebral hemorrhage in Moroccan patients.

Genetic polymorphisms of T-1131C APOA5 and ALOX5AP SG13S114 with the susceptibility of ischaemic stroke in Morocco.
Abstract Ischaemic stroke is a multifactorial disease. Genetic polymorphisms involved in lipid, inflammatory and thrombotic metabolisms play an important role in the development of ischaemic stroke. The present study aimed to assess the relationship between T1131C APOA5 and SG13S114 ALOX5AP polymorphisms and the risk of ischemic stroke in 175 cases and 201 controls. Genotyping was performed by high resolution melting and polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism methods. In the case of T-1131C APOA5, a modest risk of ischaemic stroke was noticed with CC (OR: 2.86; 95% CI = 1.24-6.58; Pc = ...

Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome in a Child Stung by Scorpion
Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) after scorpion sting was very rarely reported in literature. This is an authenticated report of PRES occurring, in a 3-year-old previously healthy girl, as a complication of the Moroccan Androctonus mauretanicus sting. According to the available and recent data, we attempt to discuss the potential mechanisms leading to this neurologic disorder and to determine the possible cause–effect relationship between scorpion venom and its development.
