AbstractPurpose of ReviewWorldwide, compared to other racial/ethnic groups, individuals of African ancestry have an excessively higher burden of hypertension-related morbidities, especially stroke. Identifying modifiable biological targets that contribute to these disparities could improve global stroke outcomes. ConclusionThe study protocol will provide a comprehensive overview of the structure, process, and outcomes of stroke rehabilitation in Ghana, incorporating both conventional and complementary treatment and rehabilitation into the stroke recovery journey. It will also inform clinical practice, with new insights on the experiences of stroke patients based on their choice of rehabilitation pathway.

Computed tomography patterns of intracranial infarcts in a Ghanaian tertiary facility
CONCLUSION: Apart from the loss of grey-white matter differentiation, there was no significant association between the other CT scan features and sex. Long-term determinants of death after stroke in Ghana: Analysis by stroke types & subtypes
Data on longer-term survival (>5 years) after stroke in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) are limited in the literature. The prospects of survival after a stroke in SSA is of considerable interest given the steep rise in stroke burden,1,2 the relatively younger age of stroke onset and the under-resourced health care delivery on the continent. Poor short-term survival outcomes are well documented3,4 but there is a need for more longitudinal data to inform policy directives on resource allocation for stroke care.

Prevalence and Associated Factors of Hypertension among Women in Southern Ghana: Evidence from 2014 GDHS
CONCLUSION: This study has revealed the prevalence of hypertension among women in southern Ghana. The associated factors include age, parity, region, and occupation. As a result, existing interventions need to be appraised in the light of these factors. Of essence is the need for Ghana Health Service to implement wide-embracing health promotion initiatives that accommodate the nutritional, exercise, and lifestyle needs of women in southern Ghana. Feasibility, acceptability, and appropriateness of a mobile health stroke intervention among Ghanaian health workers
mHealth interventions can improve care delivery in settings with limited resources. The Phone-based Interventions under Nurse Guidance after Stroke (PINGS) is a nurse-led, mHealth-centered approach to blood pressure (BP) control among recent stroke survivors with hypertension in Ghana. It has 4 key components: (1) home blood pressure monitoring, (2) nurse-coordinated mhealth consults, (3) phone alerts as medication reminders, and (4) patient motivational messages delivered as interactive voice recordings.
