Post Varicella Arterial Ischaemic Stroke in Denmark 2010-2016
Background: Varicella, most often a benign disease of childhood, is associated with an increased risk of arterial ischaemic stroke (AIS) in children. The aim of the present study was to estimate the incidence of post varicella AIS in the Danish child population and describe clinical characteristics of children admitted with post varicella AIS. Methods: In the Danish National Patient Register, we identified inpatients 28 days-16 years of age with a discharge diagnosis of stroke and/or cerebrovascular disease from 2010-2016.

Short people are at an increased risk of stroke, according to a new study done among 300,000 Danish schoolchildren. The results say that height may even be as good a predictor of stroke as BMI.

Usefulness of CHA2DS2-VASc Score to Predict Stroke Risk Independent of Atrial
We examined whether a CHA2DS2-VASc score predicts stroke risk among individuals without hospital-diagnosed AF and quantified the magnitude of the association in comparison to AF patients. We used data from population-based medical registries (1995 –2005) covering all Danish hospitals to identify patients diagnosed with AF (n=122,980). We matched ≤5 non-AF individuals (n=612,723) to each AF patient on the individual risk factors included in the CHA2DS2-VASc score.

Pediatric Acute Ischemic Stroke by Age-Group: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Published Studies and Hospitalization Records
Conclusions: Incidence rates of pediatric AIS by age-groups followed a consistent overall pattern of a reverse J-shaped curve, with the highest rates in neonates, across predominantly European and North American countries. Short- and Long-Term Mortality and Stroke Risk after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation
No published studies have compared the outcome after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) with the outcome in the general population. Thus, it is unknown whether TAVI restores normal life expectancy and stroke risk. Furthermore, despite the increasing use of TAVI, only little is known about the temporal trends for TAVI regarding patient characteristics and outcomes. We identified all Danish patients treated with TAVI from 2006-2014 (n=1,631) and 9,737 general population controls matched by sex, age and comorbidity.
