Ambient Air Pollution and Morbidity in Chinese.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of rapid urbanization on status of ambient air pollution and associated adverse health effects on the incidence and the burden of CND and risk assessment. Our findings would be greatly significant in the prediction of the risk of ambient air pollution on CND and for evidence-based policy making and risk management in China. Clinical Evidence of Exercise Benefits for Stroke.
Authors: Han P, Zhang W, Kang L, Ma Y, Fu L, Jia L, Yu H, Chen X, Hou L, Wang L, Yu X, Kohzuki M, Guo Q Abstract Even though stroke is the third, not the first, most common cause of disability-adjusted life years in developed countries, it is one of the most expensive to treat. Part of the expense is due to secondary problems in the post-stroke period including: cognition, memory, attention span, pain, sensation loss, psychological issues, and problems with mobility and balance. Research has identified that exercise has both positive physical and psychosocial effects for post-stroke patients. Therefore, this scient...

Chinese medicine Tongxinluo capsule alleviates cerebral microcirculatory disturbances in ischemic stroke by modulating vascular endothelial function and inhibiting leukocyte ‐endothelial cell interactions in mice: A two‐photon laser scanning microscopy study
ConclusionsTXL alleviates cerebral microcirculatory disturbances against ischemic injury by modulating endothelial function and inhibiting leukocyte‐endothelial cell interactions. These effects are associated with regulating the expression of PGI2, TXA2 and ET‐1, and suppressing ICAM‐1 and P‐selectin expression. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Real world adherence to oral anticoagulant in non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients in China.
CONCLUSION: Oral anticoagulation was significantly underused in NVAF patients in China. Age, sex, concurrent drug usage and disease history were associated factors. Improving warfarin adherence was promising to reduce ischemic stroke risk of NVAF patients. PMID: 29022745 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) Glu504Lys Polymorphism Affects Collateral Circulation and Short-Term Prognosis of Acute Cerebral Infarction Patients.
CONCLUSIONS ALDH2 Glu504Lys could be a risk factor for collateral circulation and a negative predictor for short-term prognosis in acute cerebral infarction in Han Chinese. ALDH2 Glu504Lys could be a new therapeutic target for patients with acute cerebral infarction. PMID: 28939800 [PubMed - in process]

External Validation of Pooled Cohort Risk Equations to Predict 1-Year Clinical Outcome in Ischemic Stroke Patients.
CONCLUSIONS Pooled cohort risk equations may serve as potential tools to predict and stratify the 1-year risk of recurrent stroke and combined vascular events in AIS/TIA patients in China. PMID: 28902807 [PubMed - in process]

Dose-Response Relationship Between Thrombin-Activatable Fibrinolysis Inhibitor (TAFI) and Stroke: A Chinese Case-Control Study.
CONCLUSIONS There was a definite correlation between TAFI levels and stroke in this Chinese population, and with the increase of TAFI levels, the relative risk of stroke or ischemic stroke first increased and then decreased. PMID: 28890533 [PubMed - in process]

Impact of Tag Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) in CCL11 Gene on Risk of Subtypes of Ischemic Stroke in Xinjiang Han Populations.
CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrates that the CCL11 gene could play an important role in the pathogenesis of lacunar stroke and LAA stroke in the Han population of China. PMID: 28873081 [PubMed - in process]

Genetic Variant of Kalirin Gene Is Associated with Ischemic Stroke in a Chinese Han Population.
CONCLUSIONS: Our results provide evidence that kalirin gene variations were associated with ischemic stroke in the Chinese Han population. PMID: 28706949 [PubMed - in process]

Need for hyperlipidemia management policy reform in China: learning from the global experience.
CONCLUSIONS: New hyperlipidemia prevention policies must set a time-bound target, need to be a patient and clinician centric in terms of its applications, and revised periodically for long-term benefits. PMID: 28696793 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Comparing the economic burden of ischemic stroke patients with and without atrial fibrillation: a retrospective study in Beijing, China.
CONCLUSIONS: AF increased the use of healthcare resources, treatment cost, and economic burden in patients with IS. Therefore, prevention of cardio-embolic events patients with AF by anticoagulants may decrease the economic burden in patients with IS. PMID: 28657348 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
