Factors for short-term outcomes in patients with a minor stroke: results from China National Stroke Registry
In this study, we aimed to identify which factors were associated with adverse outcomes of a minor stroke. Methods: The China National Stroke Registry (CNSR) is a nationwide prospective registry for patients presented to hospitals with acute cerebrovascular events between September 2007 and August 2008. Distribution of risk factors differs from coronary heart disease and stroke in China: a national population survey
Conclusions The distribution of risk factors for CHD and stroke were substantial differences. More specific prevention and control measures should be formulated according to the distribution differences of risk factors related to CVD.

Serum matrix metalloproteinase-9 levels and prognosis of acute ischemic stroke
Conclusions: Higher serum MMP-9 levels in the acute phase of ischemic stroke were associated with increased risk of mortality and major disability, suggesting that serum MMP-9 could be an important prognostic factor for ischemic stroke.

Age- and Sex-Associated Impacts of Body Mass Index on Stroke Type Risk: A 27-Year Prospective Cohort Study in a Low-Income Population in China
Conclusions Being overweight increased the risk of both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes; obesity was only associated with an increased risk of IS. Additionally, the positive association between BMI and stroke risk was only observed in participants aged <65 years and the associations differed between men and women. Being overweight increased the risk of both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes in men and being underweight increased their risk of hemorrhagic stroke. Effect of prior stroke on long ‐term outcomes of percutaneous coronary interventions in Chinese patients: A large single‐center study
ConclusionsPrior stroke history was the only predictor of risk of post ‐PCI stroke. The noncerebrovascular adverse events were not increased after adjusted analyses of baseline characteristics and propensity analyses.

Prevalence of stroke and metabolic disorders in the middle-aged and elderly Chinese with type 2 diabetes.
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of stroke was higher in middle-aged and elderly Chinese with type 2 diabetes than that in the general population. With the aggregation of risk factors, the prevalence of stroke increased. PMID: 25316225 [PubMed - in process]

Factors influencing recurrence after an ischemic stroke vary by sex
We examined relative factors associated with recurrent stroke in Chinese patients with first-ever ischemic stroke. LASSO (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) Cox regression were used to determine the predictors of recurrent stroke in the male and female groups. Development and validation of nomograms for predicting stroke recurrence after firstepisode ischemic stroke
