Pilot MRI-based strategies to improve the detection of stroke in patients with dizziness/vertigo
We describe a pilot at our institution using a specialized MRI protocol with 95% sensitivity for posterior stroke, which may be used in place of CT/CTA or conventional MRI for stroke evaluation.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for upper limb motor function and activities of daily living in patients with stroke: a protocol of a systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis
Introduction Patients with stroke usually suffer from varying degrees of movement dysfunction, which seriously affects their quality of life, especially for the upper limb dysfunction. Therefore, this study aims to compare the effects of different repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) modalities on upper limb motor function and daily activities in patients with stroke. Methods and analysis Relevant research will be collected systematically from PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, ProQuest, Wanfang Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Chinese Scientific and Journal Database (VIP...

Endovascular Coil Embolization for Recurrent Bow Hunter's Stroke
Intern Med. 2022 May 14. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.8906-21. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBow hunter's stroke is a rare cause of vertebrobasilar infarction. There is no consensus regarding the optimal treatment. We herein report a case of bow hunter's stroke successfully treated by endovascular treatment. A 70-year-old man presented with central vertigo. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed posterior circulation infarcts. Dynamic angiography revealed thrombus formation and hypoperfusion of the right vertebral artery upon head rotation to the left. Endovascular parent artery occlusion of the right vertebral artery wa...

Significance of Vertigo, Imbalance, and Other Minor Symptoms in Hyperacute Treatment of Posterior Circulation Stroke
ConclusionsThis study failed to show differences in outcome in patients with PCS according to how AVS/AIS is addressed in the stroke thrombolysis code. In patients with minor PCS, AVS/AIS was associated with a benign clinical course. Prompt identification of prodromal AVS/AIS is essential.

The stroke mechanism, clinical presentation, and radiological feature of bilateral medial medullary infarction
ConclusionBMMI is more frequently located in the rostral medulla and comprises three forms of infarction. The two main stroke etiologies of BMMI are large-artery atherosclerosis (LAA) and small vessel disease (SVD). BMMI is always associated with bad clinical outcome.

Meta-Analysis of the Use of Head Impulse Test and Head Impulse Test with Direction Changing Nystagmus and Test of Skew Deviation in the Diagnosis of Peripheral Vertigo and Stroke
Conclusion: The HIT and HINTS exams appear to be moderately good discriminators of central and PV. However, in most papers, the tests were administered by neurologists and were evaluated beyond 24 h, which may limit utility in the ED setting.Cerebrovasc Dis

Lateral medullary syndrome: uncommon form of brainstem stroke
CONCLUSION: LMS is a rare form of brainstem stroke and carries a favorable prognosis if early hospitalization and treatment is applied. Brain MRI, including diffusion sequence, is the most useful diagnostic tool for detecting LMS.PMID:36923779 | PMC:PMC10010825 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000000260
