Posterior fossa ischemic infarction: single-center retrospective review of non-surgical and surgical cases
AbstractCerebellar ischemic stroke (CIS) is a morbid neurological event, with potentially fatal consequences. There is currently no objective standard of care regarding when surgical procedures are required for this entity. We retrospectively reviewed 763 patients with CIS, 247 patients of which had a stroke larger than 1  cm in greatest dimension on cranial imaging. Neuroimaging Findings in CHANTER Syndrome: A Case Series ADULT BRAIN
SUMMARY: Recently, a distinct clinicoradiologic entity involving cerebellar, hippocampal, and basal nuclei transient edema with restricted diffusion (CHANTER) on MR imaging was identified. Patients present in an unresponsive state following exposure to drugs of abuse. Very little information exists regarding this entity, particularly in the radiology literature. Discussion. Pneumocephalus is defined by two mechanisms: a ball-valve and an inverted bottle concept.1 The ball-valve type implies positive pressure events, such as coughing or valsalva maneuvers, that prevent air escape. Tension pneumocephalus is included in this mechanism, causing a parenchymal mass effect. The inverted bottle theory includes a negative intracranial pressure gradient following cerebrospinal fluid drainage, relieved by air influx. MRI Characterization in the Acute Phase of Experimental Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
In conclusion, T2 lesion, WMI, and hydrocephalus were the most prevalent MRI characteristics 24 h after experimental SAH. The T2 lesion area matched with fibrinogen/fibrin positive staining in the acute phase of SAH. SAH induced more s evere brain injury in females compared to males in the acute phase of SAH.

Prospective, Randomized, Open-Label Phase II Trial on Concomitant Intraventricular Fibrinolysis and Low-Frequency Rotation After Severe Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Despite the ineffectiveness on reduction of delayed cerebral ischemia or poor functional outcome, intraventricular fibrinolysis and kinetic therapy seems to be a safe and effective concept for therapeutic reduction of subarachnoid clot in a patient collective experiencing predominately severe subarachnoid hemorrhage. Therefore, future studies should investigate this treatment in a larger patient collective with a lower degree of primary brain injury and until full clot clearance on serial imaging. Angiogram-Negative Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: Outcomes Data and Review of the Literature
We report data for 31 patients who presented to our institution from 2006 to the present. We performed a retrospective chart review, and report outcome data that include rates of rehemorrhage, hydrocephalus, vasospasm, permanent ischemic deficits, headaches, and outcomes based on modified Rankin Scale scores. We also performed a review of the literature and meta-analysis of the data therein. We compared rates of complications in the PMH subgroup and the diffuse-type hemorrhage subgroup.
