Elevated stress hyperglycemia and the presence of intracranial artery stenosis increase the risk of recurrent stroke
ConclusionsSHR represents a better biomarker to predict the risk of stroke recurrence in patients with ICAS than FPG and HbA1c regardless of previous diabetes mellitus.Trial registrationhttps://www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.aspx?proj=125817; Identifier, [ChiCTR2100046958].

How dysregulation of the immune system promotes diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular risk complications
Front Cardiovasc Med. 2022 Sep 29;9:991716. doi: 10.3389/fcvm.2022.991716. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTDiabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia due to insulin resistance or failure to produce insulin. Patients with DM develop microvascular complications that include chronic kidney disease and retinopathy, and macrovascular complications that mainly consist in an accelerated and more severe atherosclerosis compared to the general population, increasing the risk of cardiovascular (CV) events, such as stroke or myocardial infarction by 2- to 4-fold. DM is commonly associate...

Vascular phenotype at 35-37  weeks' gestation in women with gestational diabetes mellitus
CONCLUSION: Women with GDM have evidence of early vascular disease and this may contribute to their long-term cardiovascular risk. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.PMID:36173400 | DOI:10.1002/uog.26077

Macrovascular disease: pathogenesis and risk assessment
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is characterized by obesity and insulin resistance. Macrovascular (cardiovascular) disease (CVD) encompasses myocardial infarction, stroke and peripheral arterial disease. It is caused by atherosclerosis, a complex pathological process that is accelerated in people with diabetes and therefore causes premature morbidity and mortality. Risk is modified by established factors including hypertension and dyslipidaemia (which are linked to underlying insulin resistance), and microalbuminuria/renal impairment as well as cigarette smoking.

Crosstalk between neurological, cardiovascular, and lifestyle disorders: insulin and lipoproteins in the lead role
Pharmacol Rep. 2022 Sep 23. doi: 10.1007/s43440-022-00417-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInsulin resistance and impaired lipoprotein metabolism contribute to a plethora of metabolic and cardiovascular disorders. These alterations have been extensively linked with poor lifestyle choices, such as consumption of a high-fat diet, smoking, stress, and a redundant lifestyle. Moreover, these are also known to increase the co-morbidity of diseases like Type 2 diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis. Under normal physiological conditions, insulin and lipoproteins exert a neuroprotective role in the central nervous system. However, ...

Efficacy Analysis of Team-Based Nursing Compliance in Young and Middle-Aged Diabetes Mellitus Patients Based on Random Forest Algorithm and Logistic Regression
CONCLUSION: The team-based nursing model has a good effect on the blood glucose control level of middle-aged and young diabetic patients. Age, BMI, and glucose values are risk factors for diabetes. The SF algorithm has a good effect on predicting the risk of diabetes, which is worthy of further clinical application.PMID:35936376 | PMC:PMC9355774 | DOI:10.1155/2022/3882425

Clinical Characteristics  of Inpatients With New-Onset Diabetes Mellitus in Eastern China: Based on Novel Clustering Analysis
ConclusionsThe inpatients with new-onset diabetes in Eastern China had the unique clustering distribution. The clinical characteristics, treatments, and diabetes-related complications and comorbidities of the five subgroups were different, which may provide the basis for precise treatments of diabetes.
