Effect of a novel designed intensive patient care program on cognitive impairment, anxiety, depression as well as relapse free survival in acute ischemic stroke patients: a randomized controlled study.

Ipsilateral eye closure and hemifacial weakness: Useful clinical clue to diagnose pseudostroke
A 16-year-old boy with anxiety was admitted for evaluation of acute-onset left face/hemibody numbness and weakness. Because of the possibility of an acute stroke, he was admitted to an outside hospital and underwent extensive investigations before transfer to our center. On examination, left hemifacial weakness was seen with pulling of the angle of the mouth to the right and left eye closure (video at Neurology.org/cp). ConclusionSCAD affects young females with a paucity of cardiovascular risk factors. The major risk factor for SCAD was a history of anxiety, depression, or neuropsychiatric illness. A conservative approach to SCAD revascularization led to similar MACCE when compared to ACS controls undergoing guideline revascularization at 12 months.

Patient perspectives on left main stem revascularization strategies, the OPINION-2 study.
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, patients who are informed about risk and benefits of each treatment modality clearly favor PCI over CABG and particularly value lower short-term morbidity while being aware of higher risk of repeat revascularization. Lower educational level was associated with a higher prevalence of psychosomatic phenotypes and a 14% preference for CABG.
