Measurement of Platelet Function in an Experimental Stroke Model With Aspirin and Clopidogrel Treatment
Dual antiplatelet treatment (DAPT) increases the risk of tPA-associated hemorrhagic transformation (HT) in ischemic stroke. To investigate the effects of DAPT in rodents, reliable indicators of platelet function utilizing a minimally invasive procedure are required. We here established a fluorescence-based assay to monitor DAPT efficiency in a mouse model of ischemic stroke with HT. Male C57/BL6 mice were fed with aspirin and clopidogrel (ASA+CPG). Paradoxical Increase of Stroke in Patients with Defect of High Molecular Weight Multimers of the von Willebrand Factors following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement.

Effectiveness and Safety of Direct Oral Anticoagulants in the Secondary Stroke Prevention of Elderly Patients: Ljubljana Registry of Secondary Stroke Prevention
ConclusionsOur real-life data study suggests that secondary stroke prevention with DOACs is as effective and safe as primary prevention, both in standard and reduced doses, in a typical group of patients who are older than patients included in RCTs.

Risk of Stroke and Bleeding in Atrial Fibrillation Treated with Apixaban Compared with Warfarin
ConclusionIn NVAF patients of all ages initiating either apixaban or warfarin for stroke prevention in the Sentinel System, apixaban was associated with a decreased risk of GI bleeding, ICH, and ischemic stroke compared with warfarin. Among patients less than 65  years of age, apixaban use was associated with a decreased risk of GI bleeding and ischemic stroke.

Age-dependent anticoagulant therapy for atrial fibrillation patients with intermediate risk of ischemic stroke: A nationwide population-based study.

Plasma D ‐dimer concentrations predicting stroke risk and rivaroxaban benefit in patients with heart failure and sinus rhythm: an analysis from the COMMANDER‐HF trial
ConclusionsIn COMMANDER-HF, rivaroxaban reduced the risk of stroke but the benefit may be confined to patients with D-dimer concentrations above 515  ng/mL. Prospective trials are warranted to confirm these findings.

Oral anticoagulants vs antiplatelets in cryptogenic stroke with potential cardiac emboli: Meta-analysis
