ConclusionExposure to TNFi does not appear to influence the occurrence of ischemic stroke in the medium term in patients with RA. The impact on mortality after ischemic stroke remains inconclusive.

Herpes Zoster and the Risk for Stroke in Patients with Autoimmune Diseases

Gout as a risk factor for myocardial infarction and stroke in England: evidence from record linkage studies
Conclusion. Gout was associated with increased risk of stroke as well as MI. These findings should be considered by clinicians and may have implications for preventive management of circulatory disease risks in people with gout.

Occurrence and relative risk of stroke in incident and prevalent contemporary rheumatoid arthritis
Conclusion
The magnitude of stroke risk is lower than for ischaemic heart disease in RA, and the evolvement of this risk from RA diagnosis may be slower. This suggests different driving forces behind these two RA co-morbidities and has implications for the clinical follow-up of patients with RA.

Risk of Myocardial Infarction and Stroke in Newly Diagnosed Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A General Population ‐Based Study
Conclusion: Patients with SLE have an increased risk of cardiovascular events, particularly during the first year after diagnosis. Exploring metabolic and inflammatory abnormalities in rheumatoid arthritis patients developing stroke disease: a case-control study using electronic medical record data in northern China
ConclusionsA close monitoring is required for RA patients with dyslipidemia and elevated inflammatory markers, and the primary stroke preventive strategies should be directed against these risk factors.

High risk of pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis but not of stroke in granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener’s)
Conclusion: The present study confirms that GPA patients have a markedly increased risk of venous thromboembolism. We did not observe an increased risk of stroke in our cohort. Thus, our observations demonstrate a differential impact of GPA and/or its treatment on the risk of various vascular events. © 2014 American College of Rheumatology.

Methotrexate might reduce ischemic stroke in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a population ‐based retrospective cohort study
ConclusionsAt a dosage of > 0.5 defined daily dose, short‐term methotrexate might decrease ischemic stroke risk in RA patients, while hydroxychloroquine and sulfasalazine were neutral.

Trends in Hospitalizations Due to Acute Coronary Syndromes and Stroke in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, 1996 To 2012
Conclusion: Increased awareness of the burden of CVD in patients with SLE has not yet translated into decreases in hospitalizations for acute myocardial infarction or stroke.
