Technique, protocols and adverse reactions for contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM): a systematic review
AbstractWe reviewed technical parameters, acquisition protocols and adverse reactions (ARs) for contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM). A systematic search in databases, including MEDLINE/EMBASE, was performed to extract publication year, country of origin, study design; patients; mammography unit/vendor, radiation dose, low-/high-energy tube voltage; contrast molecule, concentration and dose; injection modality, ARs  and acquisition delay; order of views; examination time. Of 120 retrieved articles, 84 were included from 22 countries (September 2003–January 2019), totalling 14012 patients. Design was prospective...

Cutera snags Vyaire Medical ’ s Mowry for CEO | Personnel Moves, July 9, 2019
Cutera (NSDQ:CUTR) said today that it snagged Vyaire Medical CEO David Mowry to be its new CEO, effective immediately. The aesthetic device maker in January fired president & CEO James Reinstein after the company missed expectations for its 2018 top line, naming COO Jason Richey as interim chief executive. Mowry led Tornier to a $3.3 billion merger with Wright Medical in October 2015. After leaving the COO role at Wright the next year, he was tapped to lead Vyaire Medical, a rollup of four respiratory businesses BD acquired in the March 2015 deal for CareFusion. Initially a joint venture partner in Vyaire with private...

Tasked-Based Functional Brain Connectivity in Multisensory Control of Wrist Movement After Stroke
In this study we documented brain connectivity associated with multisensory integration during wrist control in healthy young adults, aged matched controls and stroke survivors. A novel functional MRI task paradigm involving wrist movement was developed to gain insight into the effects of multimodal sensory feedback on brain functional networks in stroke participants. This paradigm consisted of an intermittent position search task using the wrist during fMRI signal acquisition with visual and auditory feedback of proximity to a target position. We enrolled 12 young adults, 10 participants with chronic post-stroke hemipares...

How Exact Sciences Reinvented Itself
Ten years ago, Exact Diagnostics wasn’t a diagnostics powerhouse. The Madison, WI-based test had not yet gained FDA approval for Cologuard, its DNA-based colorectal cancer test. It didn’t have the support of insurers that it now has today. The firm was still very much in the state of transition. MD+DI spoke with Exact Sciences CEO, Kevin Conroy about the company’s past, present, and future. MDDI: Let’s talk about a little bit about when you took over the helm at Exact Sciences. How did that come about, and what was the company like back then? What was ...

Drug Resistance During HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis
AbstractClinical studies have demonstrated that use of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate with or without emtricitabine as antiretroviral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) can decrease the risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) acquisition when medication adherence is high. However, the potential for PrEP to promote antiretroviral resistance remains an important public health consideration. We performed a search of the medical literature to identify studies that address HIV drug resistance during PrEP use. In this review, we summarize findings about emergent drug resistance during clinical trials of PrEP, case reports of sero...
