Benefits of Homeopathic Complementary Treatment in Patients With Breast Cancer: A Retrospective Cohort Study Based on the French Nationwide Healthcare Database
CONCLUSION: The study showed an increasing use of homeopathy in patients with BC following diagnosis. This use was maintained after surgery and seemed to play a role in helping patients to better tolerate the SEs of cancer treatments.PMID:36376237 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2022.10.001

Prevalence of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM)-use in UK paediatric patients: A systematic review of surveys.
CONCLUSIONS: Many paediatric patients in the UK seem to use CAM. Paediatricians should therefore have sufficient knowledge about CAM to issue responsible advice. PMID: 23642955 [PubMed - in process]

Understanding support for complementary and alternative medicine in general populations: Use and perceived efficacy
Proponents of complementary and alternative medicine argue that these treatments can be used with great effect in addition to, and sometimes instead of, conventional medicine, a position which has drawn sustained opposition from those who advocate an evidence-based approach to the evaluation of treatment efficacy. Using recent survey data from the United Kingdom, this article seeks to establish a clearer understanding of the nature of the public’s relationship with complementary and alternative medicine within the general population by focusing on beliefs about the perceived effectiveness of homeopathy, in addition t...

The value of complementary and alternative medicine in the treatment of climacteric symptoms: Results of a survey among German gynecologists.
CONCLUSIONS: German gynecologists seem to have made positive experiences with CAM when observing their patients, in general. An alteration of lifestyle is seen as the most effective alternative therapy in menopause. Due to their widespread use, possible side effect of natural agents should be excluded. A dynamic network model of the similia principle.
Abstract The use of drugs in high dilutions and the principle of similarity (or "similia") are two basic tenets of homeopathy. However, the plausibility of both is a subject of debate. Although several models have been proposed to explain the similia principle, it can be best understood and appreciated in the framework of complexity science and dynamic systems theory. This work applies a five-node Boolean network to show how self-organization and adaptation are relevant to rationalizing this traditional medical principle. Simulating the trajectories and attractors of the network system in the energy state-space pr...

Parental Vaccine Hesitancy in Quebec (Canada)
This study aims to contribute to the ongoing reflections on tools and indicators of vaccine hesitancy by providing results of a survey on knowledge, attitudes and beliefs (KAB) of parents in Quebec (Canada). We have compared KAB of parents according to: 1) self-reported vaccination status of their child and 2) hesitation during the vaccination decision. Methods Data were collected through the 2014 Quebec study on vaccination against seasonal influenza and pneumococcal infections, a biennial repeated cross-sectional study in the province of Quebec, Canada. This paper presents the results pertaining to parents’ KAB about ...

Complementary medicine use among general internal medicine inpatients in a Swiss university hospital
ConclusionOne‐third of hospitalised patients used CM 2 months before hospitalisation and one‐tenth during hospital stay. CM use is seldom queried by hospital staff; better assessment of CM use among hospitalised patients could prevent potential adverse events or interactions.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Chronic Rhinosinusitis: A Systematic Review and Qualitative Analysis.
CONCLUSION: Overall, there is very limited evidence to support the use of CAM in the treatment of CRS. No significant adverse effects have been found. Given its widespread use, more rigorous data from high-quality research are needed before it can be routinely recommended. PMID: 30482029 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
