Measuring and Improving Physician Knowledge of Safety Risks Using Traditional and Online Methods in Pharmacovigilance
ConclusionsAssessments that target physicians through online platforms where they seek information about drug-related safety risks may result in increased efficiencies, informing regulators about prescribers ’ knowledge of safe use within weeks rather than years. Online communities or professional societies may provide venues in which to implement knowledge-acquisition surveys tied to training/education modules that address safety topics.

Introduction of a Continuing Professional Development Tool for Preceptors: Lessons Learned

Pharmacist-led academic detailing intervention in primary care: a mixed methods feasibility study
Conclusion This study demonstrated that a pharmacist-led academic detailing intervention was acceptable to GPs in Ireland. Further research is needed in a larger population evaluating the impact and cost effectiveness of academic detailing to optimise patient care.

Clinical pharmacists’ review of surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis in a tertiary hospital in Abu Dhabi
Conclusions The present study indicated poor adherence to the SAP guidelines. The timing of administration of SAP was not appropriate in two-thirds of the patients and more than half received more than three doses of SAP inappropriately. Continuing medical education should target antimicrobial prophylaxis (selection, timing and duration), clinical pharmacy antibiotic services and cyclic auditing.
