Risk Stratification in a Tertiary Care Spine Centre: Comparison Between STarTBack and OSPRO-YF Screening Tools
CONCLUSIONS: STarTBack and OSPRO-YF are short screening tools with acceptable convergent and known-group construct validity and no floor or ceiling effect of their total score. Both tools could assist with the identification, evaluation, and management of psychological distress in patients presenting to tertiary care spine centres.PMID:37736380 | PMC:PMC10510560 | DOI:10.3138/ptc-2021-0026

What Do Older Canadians Think They Need to Walk Well?
CONCLUSIONS: People who perceived their walking quality as poor were more likely to report poorer health and were willing to pay more for a technology to improve walking. This supports the opportunity of leveraging wearable technologies to improve walking.PMID:37736376 | PMC:PMC10510555 | DOI:10.3138/ptc-2021-0021

Remotely Supervised Exercise Programmes to Improve Balance, Mobility, and Activity Among People with Moderate to Severe Traumatic Brain Injury: Description and Feasibility
CONCLUSION: Telerehabilitation provides a delivery option that allows people with TBI to spend energy on therapy rather than on travelling. A pre-programme training on key components, such as the use of technology, safety precautions, and communication methods, likely improved the overall feasibility. Further research is needed to better understand the effectiveness of such a programme on balance, mobility, and physical activity levels.PMID:37736375 | PMC:PMC10510548 | DOI:10.3138/ptc-2021-0039

The Impact of Two Telerehabilitation Supervision Schedules on Physical Activity, Mobility, and Balance Among People with Moderate to Severe Traumatic Brain Injury: A Mixed-Method Single-Subject Design
CONCLUSION: Although the study has limitations, the findings indicate that exercise programmes delivered via telerehabilitation can improve balance and mobility as well as positively affect concerns with falling and physical activity levels for this population. No clear differences were seen between the two telerehabilitation supervision schedules.PMID:37736373 | PMC:PMC10510551 | DOI:10.3138/ptc-2021-0040

Telephonic intervention to combat non-adherence to oral iron-folic acid supplementation in pregnancy: A randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSION: In addition to improving adherence to oral IFAS, telephonic intervention mitigates side effects and enhances hemoglobin in anemic pregnant women. The increase in adherence was threefold in the experimental group compared to a marginal rise in the control group. This study recommends the implementation of a telephonic intervention to promote adherence to oral IFAS among anemic pregnant women.PMID:37736306 | PMC:PMC10509657 | DOI:10.1016/j.eurox.2023.100235

Electrochemical biostimulation of aerobic metabolic TCE degradation in a bioaugmentation approach
In this study, a combined bio-/electro-approach to stimulate the TCE degradation by the SF culture was investigated in laboratory experiments. Column experiments were set up to compare a bioaugmentation approach with an electrochemical biostimulated bioaugmentation approach. Low strength direct current increased the amount of degraded TCE to about 150 % of the control. Through lowering the inflow concentration of oxygen, the effect of the electro-biostimulation in a low oxygen setting confirmed the potential of the bio-electro process for treatment of oxygen-deprived, TCE-contaminated sites.PMID:37735338 | DOI:10.1007/s11356-023-29839-1

Quantifying the impact of green growth and digital transformation on health: new insights from Asian economies
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 22. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29595-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn today's global landscape, a paradigm shift from closed systems to open and digital networks is underway, with digital transformation and green growth permeating every facet of society, including healthcare. Therefore, our study attempts to explore the impact of digital transformation and green growth on the health outcomes of Asian economies. Employing the ARDL-PMG methodology, we delve into the long-run and short-run correlations between digital transformation, green growth, and health. Digital transformation is capt...

Study on the formation process and mechanism of aerobic granular sludge in the sequencing batch biofilter granular reactor
This study systematically investigated the formation process and mechanism of aerobic granular sludge in an SBBGR to provide a theoretical basis for optimizing the culture of aerobic granular sludge. Aerobic granular sludge with good performance was successfully cultivated after 40 days of incubation using synthetic wastewater as feed: the mixed liquid suspended solids and mixed liquor volatile suspended solids increased from 3.85 and 1.85 g/L to 31.38 and 24.74 g/L respectively, and the COD, TN, and TP removal efficiencies were 91.21%, 84.99%, and 58.14%, respectively. The experimental results showed that Amoebacteria and...
