Prognostic and clinical value of circPRKCI expression in diverse human cancers
CONCLUSION: Elevated circPRKCI expression was correlated with worse OS and unfavorable clinical features, suggesting a novel prognostic and predictive role of circPRKCI in diverse human cancers.PMID:37718264 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002844

Efficacy of adenotonsillectomy on pediatric obstructive sleep apnea and related outcomes: A narrative review of current evidence
J Formos Med Assoc. 2023 Sep 15:S0929-6646(23)00348-0. doi: 10.1016/j.jfma.2023.09.004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis review summarizes the current evidence in systematic reviews, meta-analysis and randomized controlled trials regarding adenotonsillectomy outcomes in pediatric obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Adenotonsillectomy is effective in treating OSA in children without co-morbidities, despite postoperative residual OSA remained in roughly half of these children. For children with comorbidities such as Down syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, sickle cell disease, or cerebral palsy, adenotonsillectomy is less effectiv...

The impact of adverse childhood experiences on mental and somatic health in childhood and adolescence
Orv Hetil. 2023 Sep 17;164(37):1447-1455. doi: 10.1556/650.2023.32851. Print 2023 Sep 17.ABSTRACTMultiple studies prove that children who were exposed to adverse childhood experiences within their families are increasingly at risk of various high-risk behaviours, bullying, mental and somatic disorders. In children/adolescents who undergo terrifying experiences on a repetitive, sometimes daily basis without being provided support and the basic safety they would need, all aspects of personality development will be seriously affected. Urgent action is needed in Hungary to identify these children and provide them with therapeu...

Dental care and prevention possibilities for the mentally disabled currently
CONCLUSION: Enhanced oral hygiene (advancing towards "normal oral hygiene" from the neglected oral hygiene of the patients) can bring about considerable improvement in the case of patients needing special medical care. To attain positive results, a proper approach and regular motivation are essential for both patients and caregivers. Orv Hetil. 2023; 164(37): 1456-1461.PMID:37717238 | DOI:10.1556/650.2023.32853

Electrochemotherapy for multiple cutaneous tumors in immunosuppressed patients
CONCLUSION: In immunocompromised patients, electrochemotherapy is an effective and safe therapeutic option for non-melanoma skin tumors. In order to provide more ideal management for this special sub-group, prevention, multidisciplinary approach and optimized immunosuppressive therapy is essential. Orv Hetil. 2023; 164(37): 1462-1468.PMID:37717236 | DOI:10.1556/650.2023.32852

Left pneumonectomy for intrapulmonary unicentric Castleman disease
We present the case of a symptomless, 15-year-old female patient with left-sided tumor mass. Transthoracal invasive tissue biopsy confirmed Castleman disease. The central mass involved the main structures in the left hilus and therefore left pulmonectomy was necessary to reach the complete, tumor-free resection margins. The patient had no local or distant relapse during the 7-year follow-up. Although Castleman disease treated by complete surgical resection provides excellent results, radical and extended lung resection is sometimes inevitable to reach tumor-free margins.
