Parental occupational exposure to solvents and risk of developing testicular germ cell tumors among sons: a French nationwide case-control study (TESTIS study)
CONCLUSION: Overall, no solid association was found between parental occupational exposure to solvents and TGCT risk. The association found with maternal occupational exposure to fuels and petroleum solvents among older men needs further investigation.PMID:37649372 | DOI:10.5271/sjweh.4102

Development of the Canadian Eating Practices Screener to assess eating practices based on 2019 Canada's Food Guide recommendations
The objective of this study was to develop a brief self-administered screener to assess eating practices recommended in the 2019-CFG among adults aged 18-65 years. Development of the screener items was informed by a review of existing tools and mapping of items onto 2019-CFG recommendations. Face and content validity were assessed with experts in public health nutrition and/or dietary assessment (n = 16) and individuals from Government of Canada (n=14). Cognitive interviews were conducted with English-speaking (n=16) and French-speaking (n=16) adults living in Canada to assess face validity and understanding of the screene...

Generation of CHOPe003-A ESC line to study an ACTG2 variant affecting smooth muscle development and function
Stem Cell Res. 2023 Aug 22;71:103186. doi: 10.1016/j.scr.2023.103186. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDysfunction of visceral smooth muscle ("visceral myopathy") impairs bowel, bladder, and uterine function. Symptoms of this life-threatening condition include massive intestinal distension with slow transit, vomiting, feeding intolerance, growth failure, poor bladder emptying, and difficult vaginal delivery. The most common genetic cause of visceral myopathy is a heterozygous point mutation (R257C) in gamma smooth muscle actin (ACTG2). We genetically modified the WAe0009-A human embryonic stem cell line to carry the c.769C>...

Link between the referring physician and breast and cervical cancers screening: a cross-sectional study in France
CONCLUSIONS: Lower rates of gynaecological screening among women without an RP compared to those with an RP may partly reflect a specific behaviour pattern in women less adherent to the health care system. However, this result also shows the importance of the RP, who assumes the key role of relaying public health information in a more personalised and adapted way.PMID:37644404 | PMC:PMC10464303 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02122-5
