Use of a comprehensive diagnostic algorithm for anisakis allergy in a high seropreva-lence Mediterranean setting.
Conclusions. Our preliminary findings support the high clinical specificity of BAT for AA diagnosis, suggesting implementing this method in a comprehensive diagnostic algorithm. PMID: 31668056 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Impact of Penicillin Allergy Label on Length of Stay and Mortality in Hospitalized Patients through a Clinical Administrative National Dataset
Conclusion: In our study, the prevalence of a penicillin allergy label in hospitalized patients, using the MBDS, is low. Hospitalizations with an allergy label was associated with a longer LOHS. However, penicillin-allergic patients did not show higher mortality rates. Inaccurate reporting of penicillin allergies may have an impact on healthcare resources.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

Prevalence and Burden of Coconut Allergy in the United States
CONCLUSION: Roughly 1 in 260 Americans report symptoms consistent with an IgE-mediated allergy to coconut, although fewer than half of these individuals report receiving a physician diagnosis. Our data indicate that most individuals with reported coconut allergy meeting symptom-based criteria for convincingly IgE-mediated disease have comorbid food allergies, and for many patients, clinical management appears to be suboptimal.PMID:37625503 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.08.017

Clinical Management and Use of Health Care Resources in the Treatment of Nasal Polyposis in Spanish Allergy Centers: The POLAR Study.
CONCLUSIONS: NP is a chronic inflammatory disease that generates considerable use of health care resources. The close association with atopy, asthma, and NSAID hypersensitivity highlights the usefulness of an allergy workup in all patients with NP. Analysis of the clinical management of NP by allergists in Spain revealed a high degree of compliance with EPOS diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations. PMID: 26310042 [PubMed - in process]

Peanut Allergy in Spanish Children: Comparative Profile of Peanut Allergy versus Tolerance
Conclusions: In our population, the peanut-allergic children were mainly sensitized to peanut storage proteins, and Ara h 2 sensitization allows a more accurate diagnosis of clinical reactivity to peanuts. More than half of the peanut-allergic patients were sensitized to peach Pru p 3, and 50% of them had fruit allergy at the time of the study.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

Allergen recognition patterns in walnut allergy are age dependent and correlate with the severity of allergic reactions
ConclusionSensitization to walnut storage proteins is acquired in childhood and correlates with severe reactions. sIgE levels to storage proteins Jug_r_1, Jug_r_4 and vicilin fractions, but not to nsLTP and PR-10 proteins, correlate with systemic reactions to walnut.

Immediate reactions to iodinated contrast media.
CONCLUSIONS: This study identified a possible underlying specific IgE-mediated mechanism by positive skin test result in a low percentage of patients with IHRs to ICMs. In these patients, the CCT based on skin test results was useful for identifying an alternative non-cross-reactive ICM. More studies are needed to investigate the underlying mechanism in patients with IHRs and negative skin test results. PMID: 29017901 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Food Allergy Detection Device Could Remove Danger Of Dining Out
BOSTON (CBS) – Clare Maloney-Kolenberg is high school junior from Winchester who is looking forward to traveling to Spain on an exchange program with her Spanish class. But that excitement is coupled with a bit of anxiety due to her food allergies. “I’m allergic to tree nuts, peanuts and sesame,” she told WBZ-TV. It’s a list that can make dining out a bit dicey, even in familiar restaurants near home.  But once you add unfamiliar foods and a language barrier, that increases the odds of a reaction. That’s exactly what happened when Clare ordered ice cream on a trip to Germany with her family. “All of a s...

Quality of life in spanish children with allergy to multiple foods using a spanish version of the food allergy quality of life questionnaire-parent form (s-faqlq-pf)
The impact of food allergy on patient ’s quality of life has been demonstrated by different studies. Our aim was to investigate the impact of food allergy on the quality of life of children with “multiple food allergy” (at least 2 different not related group of foods).

Two grass pollen tablets commercially available for allergy immunotherapy display different IgE epitope repertoires
ConclusionsCompared to the 1-grass tablet, the 5-grass tablet generally covers better the sensitization profiles of European patients, especially patients from Southern Europe, in principle less exposed to pollen from Timothy than from other grasses. The 5-grass tablet is therefore expected to elicit larger spectra of blocking antibodies, which might have implications in light of the generally accepted mechanisms of allergy immunotherapy.

A Multicenter retrospective study on hypersensitivity reactions to Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) in children: a report from the European Network on Drug Allergy (ENDA) group
ConclusionThe value of this study is that although different approaches are used around Europe to diagnose NSAIDs HS, we found that the percentage of confirmed NSAIDs HS is less than 20%. This highlights the importance of the DPT in confirming or excluding NSAIDs HS in the pediatric population.

Lipid transfer protein allergy and anaphylaxis in children
Lipid transfer protein (LTP) is a pan-allergen widely distributed in plants, including Rosaceae family fruits, non-Rosaceae family fruits (such as Vitaceae, Solanaceae and Oleaceae), tree nuts, legumes, vegetables, cereals, seeds and latex1. Food allergy (FA) to LTP is an IgE-mediated allergy with increasing incidence in children2. Studies from Spain report that LTP allergy explains 5% of cases of pediatric FA and that up to 26% of children with a history of reactions to vegetables/fruits are LTP sensitized2, which can develop through direct gastrointestinal, cutaneous or respiratory exposure to LTP2, with current evidence...

The intriguing allergy to ltp:guilty foods after a survey.
Nonspecific lipid transfer protein (nsLTP) is a panallergen and largely the main cause of primary plant- food allergy in Spain. Due to the high immunological cross-reactivity among different nsLTPS and variable clinical transcendence, it is difficult to indicate foods that patients might eat in the future. The aim was to determine the prevalence of food eliciting allergy among nsLTP allergic patients.
