Risk factors predisposing children to food allergies
CONCLUSION: The most important aspect of this study was that it separately identified prenatal, neonatal, and postnatal risk factors for IgE- and non-IgE-mediated food allergies.PMID:37695233 | DOI:10.15586/aei.v51i5.937

Positive Predictive Values of Anaphylaxis Diagnosis in Claims Data: A Multi-Institutional Study in Taiwan
In conclusion, acceptable PPVs were observed when anaphylaxis cases were identified by ICD-10-CM codes for anaphylaxis, but not by ICD-10-CM codes for severe allergic or drug adverse event with additional modifier codes for acute allergy events. Our multi-institutio nal findings could serve as a fundamental reference for further studies of anaphylaxis based on real-world healthcare databases.

Inhibitory effect of daphnetin on the C48/80-induced pseudo-allergic reaction
Int Immunopharmacol. 2023 Sep 8;124(Pt A):110874. doi: 10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110874. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPseudo-allergic reaction is an allergic reaction mediated by nonimmunoglobulin E (IgE), which does not require prior contact with antigen sensitization and directly leads to mast cell degranulation. Daphnetin (DAP) is known for its anti-inflammatory effects, but there are few studies on the effect of DAP on pseudo-allergy and its mechanism. To investigate the effect of DAP on pseudo-allergy and its mechanism, we inflicted pseudo-allergy on RBL-2H3 cells using C48/80 in vitro. Moreover, to assess the antipseudo...

Managing Anaphylaxis - Epinephrine, Antihistamines, and Corticosteroids: Over 10 years of C-CARE Registry Data
CONCLUSION: Our findings in this predominantly pediatric population support the early use of epinephrine and suggest a beneficial effect of antihistamines. Corticosteroids use in anaphylaxis should be revisited.PMID:37689113 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.08.606

Latex allergy - from discovery to component-resolved diagnosis
Endocr Metab Immune Disord Drug Targets. 2023 Sep 1. doi: 10.2174/1871530323666230901102131. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLatex allergy is a hypersensitivity response to natural rubber latex (NRL) proteins or rubber chemicals used in the manufacture of latex products. An accurate diagnosis is the first step in the effective management of individuals with latex allergy, especially in high-risk groups, such as healthcare workers and those affected by spina bifida. Diagnosis is based on the clinical history and an accurate allergological evaluation. In the case of type I IgE-mediated hypersensitivity re-actions, which can ma...
