Reporting of Rehabilitation Outcomes in the Traumatic Lower Limb Amputation Literature: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: The study provides a list of outcome indicators explicitly published for adults with traumatic LLA, highlighting inconsistent reporting of outcome indicators. The lack of a standardized set of outcome measures is a barrier to performing meta-analyses on interventions, preventing the identification of effective care models and clinical pathways. Developing a core outcome set (COS) consisting of minimum outcome measures deemed necessary for clinical decision-making may address this issue.PMID:37708929 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2023.08.028

An Analysis of Infection Prevention and Control Practices in Designated Hospitals that Treat COVID-19: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: Chinese prophylaxis and controlling measures for COVID-19 are mainly to protect vulnerable populations, cut off transmission routes, and control the source of infection. Therefore, we must also do our best to prevent and control novel coronavirus pneumonia to protect our health and reduce the burden on our country.PMID:37708537

Vascular Access-Related Distal Ischemia Requiring Intervention: Frequency, Risk Factors, and Consequences
CONCLUSIONS: Access-related distal ischemia requiring intervention was rare in the current study, and more common in women and patients with peripheral vascular disease or coronary artery disease. In some cases, a subsequent vascular access could be placed with a low likelihood of recurrent distal ischemia.PMID:37707801 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000310

Disparities in Offering Enrollment in Remote Patient Monitoring for COVID-19
Conclusions: We found disparities in who is offered access to remote monitoring despite the use of standardized care pathways. Health systems need to evaluate how they implement RPM programs and care pathways to ensure equitable care delivery.PMID:37707989 | DOI:10.1089/tmj.2023.0150

Experiences and Communication Preferences in Pregnancy Care Among Patients With a Spanish Language Preference: A Qualitative Study
CONCLUSION: Our findings highlight the importance of relationship to overcome language discordance among patients with limited English proficiency during pregnancy care. These findings inform potential structural change and patient-clinician dyad interventions to better meet the communication needs of patients with limited English proficiency.PMID:37708499 | DOI:10.1097/AOG.0000000000005369

Patient-stimulated fall prevention screening in primary care: analysis of provider coding changes
CONCLUSION: There are indicators that patient-centered selective screening at a busy academic practice may have resulted in an increase in falls-related ICD-10 coding. Clinical integration of this program was well received.PMID:37710193 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02154-x

How do determinants of health relate to children's quality of life? A cross-sectional study in Izmir, Turkey
This study aims to determine health-related quality of life (QoL) and the related factors from the perspective of social determinants of health among children.BACKGROUND: Childhood is the most intense period of life, and environmental factors surrounding children, as well as individual lifestyle factors, are related to the child's physical and mental well-being. To our knowledge, there is a lack of studies evaluating the relationship between determinants of health and the QoL of healthy children in general.METHODS: This cross-sectional study was executed in the Bayrakli district of Izmir city. Stratified clustered sampling...

Xenobiotic metabolites modify immune responses of the cervicovaginal epithelium: potential mechanisms underlying barrier disruption
CONCLUSIONS: Xenobiotic metabolites present in the cervicovaginal space during pregnancy modify immune responses, unveiling potential pathways through which environmental exposures may contribute to the pathogenesis of cervical remodelling preceding preterm birth. Future work identifying xenobiotic sources and routes of exposure offers the potential to modify environmental risks to improve pregnancy outcomes.PMID:37705143 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17654
