Nanopeptide CI20 remarkably enhances growth performance and disease resistances by improving the mucosal structure, antioxidant capacity, and immunity in mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi)
In this study, the nanopeptide CI20, which was created by conjugating antimicrobial peptide gcIFN-20H and CMCS, were evaluated the feeding effect in mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi). Compared with the control group, 150 mg/kg C-I20-fed fish showed the second highest growth performance with no significant changes in body composition. C-I20-fed fish showed more goblet cells and thicker mucin after feeding. The 150 mg/kg CI20 diet boosted the antioxidant capacity, immunity, and digestive enzymes. Mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress contribute to cross-generational toxicity of benzo(a)pyrene in Danio rerio
This study evaluated the role of mitochondria, which are maternally inherited, in the cross-generational toxicity of benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), a model PAH and known mitochondrial toxicant. Mature female zebrafish (F0) were fed diets containing 0, 12.5, 125, or 1250 μg BaP/g at a feed rate of 1% body weight twice/day for 21 days. Discretionary foods and drinks in Norwegian children and adolescents' diet: Data from the national dietary survey Ungkost 3
CONCLUSIONS: Almost all 4th and 8th graders in Norway consumed discretionary foods and drinks and these products contributed to a substantial proportion of the total energy intake and limited amounts of nutrients. Those children and adolescents consuming the least discretionary foods and drinks had a higher intake of whole grains, fish and seafood, indicating healthier and more sustainable food habits.PMID:37721223 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980023001982
