A common 18F-FDG PET radiomic signature to predict survival in patients with HPV-induced cancers
Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging. 2023 Aug 26. doi: 10.1007/s00259-023-06320-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLocally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) and anal and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (ASCC and OPSCC) are mostly caused by oncogenic human papillomaviruses (HPV). In this paper, we developed machine learning (ML) models based on clinical, biological, and radiomic features extracted from pre-treatment fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography ([18F]-FDG PET) images to predict the survival of patients with HPV-induced cancers. For this purpose, cohorts from five institutions were used: two cohorts o...

Molecular Investigation of the Association Among Common Interleukin-6 Polymorphism and Human Papillomavirus Genotypes with Cervical Cancer Among Iranian Women
This study aims to investigate the molecular investigation of HPV infection and its association with the common polymorphism of IL-6 in cervical carcinoma in Iran. This case-control study collected 62 precancerous and cancerous lesions and 62 healthy samples from cancer-free women, subsequent negative colposcopy, and cervical cytology. The frequency of HPV genotypes and the genotyping of IL-6 rs1800795 and rs1800796 were done by different PCR techniques. Results were analyzed using the Epi Info version 7, 2012, with the χ2 test. Compared with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 1 (CINI), the HPV positivity rate is sa...

A Cas12a-based fluorescent microfluidic system for rapid on-site human papillomavirus diagnostics
Appl Microbiol Biotechnol. 2023 Aug 26. doi: 10.1007/s00253-023-12728-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPersistent infection with human papillomavirus (HPV) is the leading cause of cervical cancer, and early diagnosis is crucial for clinical management. However, the easy and rapid on-site diagnostic for HPV genotyping remains challenging. Here, we develop a Cas12a-based fluorescent microfluidic detection system for diagnosing six HPV subtypes (HPV6, HPV11, HPV16, HPV18, HPV31, and HPV33). A panel of crRNAs and recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) primers targeting the HPV L1 gene was screened for sensitive and specifi...

"OR" logic gate multiplexed photoelectrochemical sensor for high-risk human papillomaviruses: "One pot" recombinase polymerase amplification and logic discrimination
Talanta. 2023 Aug 18;266(Pt 2):125090. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2023.125090. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMultiple targets analysis in complex samples is of great importance in medical and health sciences. Limited by independent laborious operational procedures, multiple targets determination remains a challenge. Herein, we report an "OR" logic gate multiplexed photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor based on "one pot" recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) strategy. "One pot" RPA triggers exponential growth of multiple DNA in complex samples. Subsequently, the amplification products interact separately with lambda exonucleas...

Vaccination Coverage Among Adolescents Aged 13-17 Years - National Immunization Survey-Teen, United States, 2022
MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep. 2023 Aug 25;72(34):912-919. doi: 10.15585/mmwr.mm7234a3.ABSTRACTThree vaccines are routinely recommended for adolescents to prevent pertussis, meningococcal disease, and cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). CDC analyzed data from the 2022 National Immunization Survey-Teen for 16,043 adolescents aged 13-17 years to assess vaccination coverage. Birth cohort analyses were conducted to assess trends in vaccination coverage by age 13 years (i.e., before the 13th birthday) and by age 14 years (i.e., before the 14th birthday) among adolescents who were due for routine vaccination before and dur...
