Differential Clearance of Rat and Human Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells from the Brain After Intra-arterial Infusion in Rats.
Abstract Intra-arterial (i.a.) delivery of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) has shown potential as a minimally invasive therapeutic approach for stroke. Depressive symptoms, atherosclerotic burden and cerebral blood flow disturbances in a cohort of octogenarian men from a general population
Conclusion: In this population-based cohort of octogenarian men free from stroke or dementia, a proportion of subjects with depressive symptoms was low. Still, men with borderline or mild depression scores had lower social and physical activity, persistent smoking habit, worse peripheral circulation in legs, and cerebral perfusion changes in basal nuclei, thalamus and subcortical white matter. Regional CBF decline could be partly mediated by higher SBP.

Combined 18F-FDG PET-CT and DCE-MRI to Assess Inflammation and Microvascularization in Atherosclerotic Plaques Brief Reports
Conclusions— There is a weak but significant positive correlation between inflammation on positron emission tomography/computed tomography and neovascularization as assessed with dynamic contrast–enhanced-MRI. Future studies should investigate which imaging modality has the highest predictive value for recurrent stroke, as these are not interchangeable. Systematic review of the diagnostic utility of spect imaging in dementia
Conclusion SPECT does have a diagnostic value, particularly in differentiating Alzheimer's disease from frontotemporal dementia and normal controls, however SPECT should not be used in isolation, rather it should be interpreted together with clinical data, neuropsychological assessment and structural brain imaging as an adjunctive diagnostic tool.

123I-Iomazenil Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography Visualizes Recovery of Neuronal Integrity by Bone Marrow Stromal Cell Therapy in Rat Infarct Brain Basic Sciences
Conclusions— The present findings strongly suggest that the BMSCs may enhance functional recovery by improving the neuronal integrity in the peri-infarct area, when directly transplanted into the infarct brain at clinically relevant timing. 123I-IMZ single photon emission computed tomography may be a promising modality to scientifically prove the beneficial effects of BMSC transplantation on the host brain in clinical situation.

Pathological generosity: An atypical impulse control disorder after a left subcortical stroke.
We report on a case of pathological generosity secondary to a left lenticulocapsular stroke with hypoperfusion of several anatomically intact cortical areas. A 49-year-old man developed excessive and persistent generosity as he recovered from a left lenticulocapsular hematoma. His symptoms resembled an impulse control disorder. (99m)Tc-HMPAO SPECT demonstrated hypoperfusion mostly in the ipsilateral striatum, dorsolateral, and orbitofrontal cortex. Cerebral hemodynamic benefits after carotid artery stenting in patients with near occlusion
Conclusions: Before CAS, patients with NO were more hemodynamically compromised than those with severe stenosis without NO. After CAS, significant cerebral hemodynamic improvement and normalization occurred long-term. Thus, from a hemodynamic perspective, CAS was effective in patients with NO.

Neurobiological insight into hyperbaric hyperoxia
ConclusionsThe present study firstly confirmed the rCBF distribution increase during HBO in sensory‐motor and visual cortices and it showed for the first time a higher perfusion tracer distribution in areas encompassed in dorsal attention system and in default mode network. These findings unfold both the externally directed cognition performance improvement related to the HBO and the internally directed cognition states during resting state conditions, suggesting possible beneficial effects in TBI and stroke patients.This article is protected by copyright. Posterior Fossa Syndrome After Cerebellar Stroke.
We report longitudinal clinical, neurocognitive and neuroradiological findings in a 71-year-old right-handed patient who developed PFS following a right cerebellar haemorrhage that was not surgically evacuated. During follow-up, functional neuroimaging was conducted by means of quantified Tc-99m-ECD SPECT studies.
