Relation of post-stroke headachto cerebrovascular pathology and hemodynamics
In conclusion, post-stroke headache is a common phenomenon, especially in patients with pre-stroke headache, history of old stroke, posterior circulation infarction, and large artery disease. This headache was of moderate-intensity with clinical characteristics of tension-type. Intra-cranial cerebrovascular pathological changes including opening of collateral channels and variable degrees of stenosis of cerebrovascular systems were implicated in the production of that headache.PMID:35950474 | DOI:10.5114/fn.2022.116962

Diaphragmatic ultrasound can help evaluate pulmonary dysfunction in patients with stroke
ConclusionWe found that patients with stroke had pulmonary dysfunction even in the recovery period. Diaphragmatic ultrasound can be used as a simple and effective tool for detecting pulmonary dysfunction in patients with stroke, with TdiFVC being the most effective index.

Prehospital stroke diagnostics based on neurological examination and transcranial ultrasound
Conclusions: The study demonstrates the feasibility and high diagnostic accuracy of emergency transcranial ultrasound assessment combined with neurological examinations for major ischemic stroke. Future combination with telemedical support, point-of-care analysis of blood serum markers, and probability algorithms of prehospital stroke diagnosis including ultrasound may help to speed up stroke treatment.

Risk factor profile in patients with stroke at a young age.
Conclusions Angiopathy is the most common risk factor for stroke at a young age. More than half of the patients with stroke at a young age have at least two independent risk factors for stroke. In the first two decades of life, the most frequent risk factors for stroke are heart diseases; arterial diseases play a dominant role in the consecutive three decades. Clinical Response to Procedural Stroke Following Carotid Endarterectomy: A  Delphi Consensus Study
CONCLUSION: In patients having a stroke following carotid endarterectomy, expedited diagnostics should be performed initially in most phases. In patients who experience an ipsilateral intra-operative stroke following carotid clamp release, immediate re-exploration of the index carotid artery is recommended.PMID:34312072 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.05.033

Oral fibrinogen-depleting agent lumbrokinase for secondary ischemic stroke prevention: results from a multicenter, randomized, parallel-group and controlled clinical trial.
CONCLUSION: Long-term oral fibrinogen-depleting therapy may be beneficial for secondary ischemic stroke prevention. PMID: 24229674 [PubMed - in process]

Exploring Carotid Sonographic Parameters Associated With Stroke Risk Among Hypertensive Stroke Patients Compared to Hypertensive Controls
Conclusions— Among hypertensive patients, the common carotid artery diameter and EDV are significantly associated with stroke risk. These findings have implications for development and evaluation of stroke prevention programs.

Assessment of Carotid Intraplaque Neovascularization Using Superb Microvascular Imaging in High Risk of Stroke Individuals: Results From a Community-Based Study
Conclusions: Moderate to marked intraplaque neovascularization detected by SMI was more likely in subjects with a history of any territory stroke or TIA or thicker plaque. This indicates a potential new role of SMI in stratifying future risk of stroke or other arterial disease complications.

Relationship of spontaneous microembolic signals to risk stratification, recurrence, severity, and mortality of ischemic stroke: a prospective study
In conclusion, MES demonstrated a significant correlation with symptomatic carotid disease and a shorter DELAY until monitoring, and could be a predictor for the early recurrence of stroke in the long term.

Stroke in paediatric patients with sickle-cell anaemia.
CONCLUSIONS. Drepanocytosis is a disease that is emerging in our setting as a result of immigration. It should be suspected in cases of paediatric strokes associated to anaemia, above all in black children under the age of five who were not submitted to neonatal screening. Risk of Early Recurrent Stroke in Symptomatic Carotid Stenosis.
CONCLUSIONS: The data suggest that the early risk of recurrent stroke in symptomatic significant carotid stenosis is not as high as some earlier studies have shown. The risk is similar to several studies in which a modern medical treatment regime could be assumed. PMID: 25548062 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
