Effect of chemotherapy and different chemotherapy regimens on bone health among Chinese breast cancer women in different menstrual status: a self-control study
CONCLUSION: Chemotherapy might induce lumbar vertebrae BMD loss and spine osteoporosis with regimen differences among Chinese BC patients. Calcium/VitD supplementation could improve bone turnover markers, bone metabolism indicators, and bone mineral density. Early interventions on bone health are needed for BC patients during chemotherapy.PMID:37642751 | DOI:10.1007/s00520-023-07960-8

Fight Aging! Newsletter, August 7th 2023
In conclusion, here, we demonstrate a novel mechanism for ESC-EVs to protect cells from senescence. However, whether ESC-EVs rejuvenate aged mice via miR-15b-5p and miR-290a-5p remains unknown. Next, we plan to use miR-15b-5p and miR-290a-5p antagonists while treating aged mice with ESC-EVs to further investigate the mechanism by which ESC-EVs resist aging in vivo. « Back to Top Fatty Acid Metabolism as a Commonality in Different Approaches to Slowing Aging https://www.fightaging.org/archives/2023/08/fatty-acid-metabolism-as-a-commonality-in-different-approaches-to-slowing-aging/ It seems...

Adipose-derived stem cells promote the repair of chemotherapy-induced premature ovarian failure by inhibiting granulosa cells apoptosis and senescence
CONCLUSION: Our experiment demonstrated that a single injection of high-dose CTX was a less damaging chemotherapeutic strategy than continuous injection of low-dose CTX, and tail-vein injection of ADSCs was a potential approach to promote the restoration of CTX-induced POF.PMID:37038203 | DOI:10.1186/s13287-023-03297-5

Chemopreventive and anti-tumor potential of vitamin E in preclinical breast cancer studies: A systematic review
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, vitamin E isoforms, isolated or associated, showed antitumor and chemopreventive activity. However, due to studies heterogeneity, there is a need for further analysis to establish dose, form, supplementation time and breast cancer stage.PMID:36657931 | DOI:10.1016/j.clnesp.2022.11.001

Measurable Serum Estradiol and Estrone in Women 36-56 Years During Adjuvant Treatment With Aromatase Inhibitors for a Hormone Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer. Case Studies and Cross-sectional Study Using an Ultra-sensitive LC-MS/MS-Method
CONCLUSION: Breast cancer patients aged 36 to56 years need to be monitored closely during adjuvant treatment with aromatase inhibitors: to confirm menopausal status, to evaluate compliance and to ensure ovarian activity remains adequately suppressed. Estrone might be a better marker then estradiol to detect ovarian reactivation.PMID:36376236 | DOI:10.1016/j.clbc.2022.09.007

Embryonic stem cells-derived mesenchymal stem cells do not differentiate into ovarian cells but improve ovarian function in POF mice
Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2022 Oct 9;635:92-98. doi: 10.1016/j.bbrc.2022.10.014. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPremature ovarian failure (POF) is characterized by amenorrhea, hypoestrogenism, elevated gonadotropin levels, and infertility. Although some of previous studies reported that Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) transplantation could rescue the ovary function of POF animal models through the paracrine pathways, these mechanisms require further investigation. Here, we aimed to investigate the possible mechanisms of therapeutic effects of human embryonic stem cells derived MSC (ES-MSC) in a mice model of chemotherapy-ind...

Comparative study on sex hormone secretion in peripheral blood of women with common hematological tumors before and after chemotherapy
This study aimed to explore the secretion of sex hormones in peripheral blood of women with common hematological tumors before and after chemotherapy. From January 2019 to April 2021, 100 female patients with common hematological tumors in our hospital were selected as the observation group, and 50 healthy women in our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. The serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), estradiol (E2) and luteinizing hormone (LH) were detected and compared between the observation group and the control group before chemotherapy, patients with different disease types in ...

l-Carnitine improves follicular survival and function in ovarian grafts in the mouse
CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicated that l-carnitine can ameliorate the consequences of ischemia-reperfusion on the mice ovarian tissue following autotransplantation.IMPLICATIONS: l-carnitine improves the structure and function of transplanted ovaries.PMID:35500571 | DOI:10.1071/RD21287

Management of genitourinary syndrome of menopause in breast cancer survivors: An update
World J Clin Oncol. 2022 Feb 24;13(2):71-100. doi: 10.5306/wjco.v13.i2.71.ABSTRACTThere is increasing attention about managing the adverse effects of adjuvant therapy (Chemotherapy and anti-estrogen treatment) for breast cancer survivors (BCSs). Vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA), caused by decreased levels of circulating estrogen to urogenital receptors, is commonly experienced by this patients. Women receiving antiestrogen therapy, specifically aromatase inhibitors, often suffer from vaginal dryness, itching, irritation, dyspareunia, and dysuria, collectively known as genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), that it can in tur...
