Trends in acute ischemic stroke treatments and mortality in the United States from 2012 to 2018
CONCLUSIONS: From 2012 to 2018, use of tPA and MT increased significantly, irrespective of age, while mortality decreased in the entire AIS population. The most dramatic decrease in mortality was seen in the MT-treated population. Unplanned readmission after carotid stenting versus endarterectomy: analysis of the United States Nationwide Readmissions Database
Conclusions
Readmission is not uncommon after carotid revascularization, occurs more often after CAS, and is predicted by baseline factors and by preventable adverse events at initial admission.

Just after dawn on a recent July day in Rochelle, Ga., Silvia Moreno Ayala steps into a pair of sturdy work pants, slips on a long-sleeved shirt, and slathers her face and hands with sunscreen. She drapes a flowered scarf over her wide-brimmed hat to protect her neck and back from the punishing rays of the sun. There isn’t much she can do about the humidity, however. Morning is supposed to be the coolest part of the day, but sweat is already pooling in her rubber boots.

Readmission following extracranial-intracranial bypass surgery in the United States: nationwide rates, causes, risk factors, and volume-driven outcomes.
CONCLUSIONS: Readmission rates for patients after EC-IC bypass are comparable with those after other common cranial procedures and are primarily driven by preexisting comorbidities, socioeconomic status, and treatment at low-volume centers. Periprocedural complications, including stroke, graft failure, and wound complications, occurred at the expected rates, consistent with those in prior clinical series. The centralization of care may significantly reduce perioperative complications, readmissions, and hospital resource utilization.

Medicare Bundled Payment Policy on Anemia Care, Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events, and Mortality among Adults Undergoing Hemodialysis
CONCLUSIONS: The Medicare reimbursement policy and Food and Drug Administration-recommended erythropoietin-stimulating agent dosing changes were associated with lower erythropoietin-stimulating agent use and lower hemoglobin levels.
