Iliopsoas haematoma during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: A registry report from the COVID-19 critical care consortium across 30 countries
CONCLUSIONS: Overall incidence of IPH in the studied COVID-19 ECMO cohort was 0.64%. Most cases were reported from Japan, Belgium, and Italy. In our study, this rare complication did not appear to be confined to Asian patients. Due to the high fatality rate, awareness about the occurrence of IPH should be recognised.PMID:36988317 | DOI:10.1177/02676591231168285

Prevalence and clinical features of severe diabetic ketoacidosis treated in pediatric intensive care unit: a 5-year monocentric experience
ConclusionsOur findings demonstrated that severe DKA is still quite common in children and adolescents at T1D onset, especially in some areas such as Southern Italy. Public awareness campaigns should be increasingly promoted to facilitate the recognition of early symptoms of diabetes and to reduce morbidity and mortality related to DKA.

Value congruence and depressive symptoms among critical care clinicians: The mediating role of moral distress
This study aimed to test the mediating role of moral distress in the relationship between value congruence and job control, on the one hand, and depression, on the other hand. Clinicians were administered in the Italian Moral Distress Scale—Revised, the value and control subscales of the Areas of Worklife Scale, and the Beck Depression Inventory II. Structural equation modeling was used to test the mediation model. Analysis on 170 questionnaires (response rate 72%) found no relation...

The Italian law on informed consent and advance directives: New rules of conduct for the autonomy of doctors and patients in end-of-life care
ConclusionsThe effects of the new law must be tested in the field. Its objectives will be achieved if, in clinical practice, ADs are able to satisfactorily represent informed personal preferences through patients' relationships with their physicians, as part of personalized advance care planning. Future studies are necessary to assess the impact of the new law in Italy.
