Telemedicine in stroke-pertinent to stroke care in Germany
CONCLUSION: Telemedical stroke care is utilized in about 1 out of 10 stroke patients in Germany. Telemedical stroke networks achieve similar rates of thrombolysis and transfer for thrombectomy compared with neurological stroke units and contribute to stroke care in rural regions. Standardization of network structures, financial assurance and uniform quality measurements may further strengthen the importance of telestroke networks in the future.PMID:34046722 | DOI:10.1007/s00115-021-01137-6

CONCLUSION: Patients with acute stroke should be treated in a specialized center whenever possible. After hospital discharge, stroke patients should be followed up at short intervals and any risk factors for stroke should be treated.

Evident lower blood levels of multiple nutritional compounds and highly prevalent malnutrition in sub-acute stroke patients with or without dysphagia
This study shows that malnutrition is highly prevalent in sub-acute stroke patients during rehabilitation. Even though patients with OD were more likely to be malnourished, blood levels of specific nutritional compounds were similarly lower in stroke patients with or without OD compared to healthy reference subjects. Furthermore, subgroup analysis showed similarly lower blood levels of specific nutritional compounds in patients that are normal nourished vs. patients with (risk of) malnutrition. Data lake-driven analytics identify nocturnal non-dipping of heart rate as predictor of unfavorable stroke outcome at discharge
ConclusionsOur data suggest that a lack of circadian HR modulation, specifically nocturnal non-dipping, is associated with short-term unfavorable functional outcome after stroke, and that including HR into machine learning-based prediction models may lead to improved stroke outcome prediction.

The structured ambulatory post-stroke care program for outpatient aftercare in patients with ischaemic stroke in Germany (SANO): an open-label, cluster-randomised controlled trial

Distribution of Diagnoses and Clinical and Imaging Characteristics in 1,322 Consecutive Suspected Stroke Patients
Conclusion: Our results help to plan resources in thrombectomy-capable centers in times of expanding indications for EVT where resources will have to be adjusted to patients with low-NIHSS, low-ASPECTS, and distal occlusions, and patients presenting in the extended time window, which may altogether account for an additional 20% of all ischemic stroke patients.
