Evaluation of the association between mammographic density and the risk of breast cancer using Quantra software and the BI-RADS classification
To determine the association between mammographic density (MD) and the risk of breast cancer (BC) in Chinese women and to investigate the role of fertility risk factors in regulating the relationship between MD and BC. We used Quantra software and the BI-RADS classification to assess MD in 466 patients and 932 controls. Conditional matched logistic multiple regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between MD and BC, and risk was evaluated with the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). The ORs for category 4 versus category 2 were 1.95 (95% confidence interval [95% CI] (1.42∼2.66)) and ...

Changes in children's lung function over two decades in relation to socioeconomic, parental and household factors in Wuhan, China
CONCLUSIONS: Lung function was lower in 2018 than in 1993-1996 in school-age children living in Wuhan. Although improvements in urban living and household environmental conditions as well as increased breastfeeding in Period II could have contributed to increased lung function, other unmeasured risk factors may have played a more dominant role in leading to a net decrease in lung function from Period I to Period II. Future studies are needed to identify these risk factors.PMID:34422385 | PMC:PMC8339758 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-21-158

Association of Postpartum Pain Sensitivity and Postpartum Depression: A Prospective Observational Study
ConclusionIncreased postpartum pain sensitivity was closely associated with EPDS scores  ≥ 10 points, and PSQ-C scores could be a reliable predictor. Moreover, gestational diabetes, low occurrence of breastfeeding, and low birth weight were the risk factors for EPDS scores ≥ 10 points.Trial RegistrationChiCTR.org.cn identifier, ChiCTR-2000033091.

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 1134: Environmental and Behavioral Factors in Association with Lung Function Impairment in Children Living in Wuhan, China
This study aims to identify the prevalence of impaired lung function in children and the potential influencing factors in elementary school children of Wuhan, China. Children of 6–12 years old were enrolled from elementary schools in Wuhan, China, in 2018, on the basis of a cross-sectional study design. Information on personal behavior patterns and household characteristics, as well as parental factors, was collected based on a questionnaire survey. Spirometry was used to measure fifteen lung function indicators. Logistic regression models were used to estimate odds ratios of prevalence of impaired lung funct...

The effectiveness of needle aspiration versus traditional incision and drainage in the treatment of breast abscess: a meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: NA has better advantages in terms of healing time, avoidance of breast fistula, continuous breastfeeding, and patient satisfaction. Although NA and ID have similar cure and recurrence rates, NA, with or without ultrasound guidance, could be used as a first-line treatment for breast abscesses. Patients with large volumes, multicompartmental abscesses, or those who have been ineffective against multiple NA, should be considered for ID.KEY MESSAGESBreast abscess is a common and intractable clinical condition in general surgery.Compared with ID for breast abscesses, NA has better advantages in terms of healing time...

Nanoparticles as an effective drug delivery system in COVID-19
CONCLUSION: Our current studies reveal that nanoparticles may prove very helpful in the delivery of drugs for Covid-19 treatment. Many cases showed that patients, where drugs are delivered with the help of nanoparticles, produced very few side effects.PMID:34649334 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2021.112162

IJERPH, Vol. 15, Pages 21: Infant Feeding Beliefs, Attitudes, Knowledge and Practices of Chinese Immigrant Mothers: An Integrative Review of the Literature
eaney Chinese are a fast-growing immigrant population group in several parts of the world (e.g., Australia, Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia, United States). Research evidence suggests that compared to non-Hispanic whites, individuals of Asian-origin including Chinese are at higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes at a lower body mass index (BMI). These risks may be possibly due to genetic differences in body composition and metabolic responses. Despite the increasing numbers of Chinese children growing up in immigrant families and the increasing prevalence of obesity among Chinese, little re...
