Respiratory failure as the prominent manifestation of entecavir-associated mitochondrial myopathy: a case report
Mitochondrial myopathy caused by the long-term use of nucleos(t)ide analogue in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is mostly characterized by myasthenia and myalgia. Cases with respiratory failure as the ...

Real-World Analyses of the Safety Outcome among a General Population Treated with Statins: An Asian Population-Based Study
CONCLUSIONS: Compared with atorvastatin and rosuvastatin, pitavastatin might be associated with a lower risk of safety events in Asians.PMID:34497171 | DOI:10.5551/jat.63076

Efficacy and Safety of Statin for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Prevention Among Chronic Liver Disease Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Conclusion: Statin use was safe and associated with a lower pooled risk of HCC development among adults with CLD. Given the bias with observation studies, prospective randomised trial is needed to confirm this finding.

P039  Muscle wasting & amp; weakness: a rare presentation of sarcoidosis
Conclusion Symptomatic myopathy is present in only 0.5-2.5% of sarcoidosis patients. This unique case highlights the heterogeneity of this disease and the vital role different diagnostic modalities play in achieving the correct diagnosis. It is also pertinent that the lymphadenopathy, found incidentally via imaging, led to the diagnosis. Although notoriously a diagnosis of exclusion, this case emphasises the importance of considering sarcoidosis even in the absence of respiratory symptoms, a raised ACE or hypercalcaemia.Disclosure C. Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-Induced Polymyositis and Myasthenia Gravis with Fatal Outcome
In conclusion, ICIs may induce myositis combined with neurological immune-related adverse events. In patients developing muscle weakness and pain under ICI therapy, myositis should be suspected.Case Rep Oncol 2020;13:1252 –1257

Necrotizing Myopathy Resulting In Myocarditis And Sudden Death
Necrotizing myopathy (NM), a type of idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM), is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells target skeletal muscle, resulting in muscle breakdown and weakness. Cardiac involvement in this disorder is rare. We highlight a case of autoantibody-negative NM complicated by myocarditis and sudden cardiac death.Case Report: A 45-year-old male with a history of hypertension, previous hepatitis B, and obesity presented with 6 months of progressive proximal lower extremity weakness.

Unexpected SARS-CoV-2 cardiorespiratory arrest in a myopathy patient undergoing immunosuppressive treatment: A case report
We present an unique circumstance whereas a patient with a 5 year history of inflammatory muscle disease, diagnosed by clinical history and muscle biopsy with elevated creatine kinase levels, suffered a hypoxemic cardiopulmonary arrest due to asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 after receiving advanced immunosuppressive therapy. Diagnoses: The patient presented with an acute exacerbation of inflammatory muscle disease with dysphagia, muscle weakness, and elevated creatine kinase. Interventions: After no improvement with intravenous immunoglobulin the patient received mycophenolate and plasma exchange therapy. Outcomes: Subseq...

ATI-2173, A Novel Liver-Targeted Non-Chain Terminating Nucleotide for HBV Cure Regimens.
Abstract ATI-2173 is a novel liver-targeted molecule designed to deliver the 5'-monophosphate of clevudine for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. Unlike other nucleos(t)ides, the active clevudine-5'-triphosphate is a noncompetitive, non-chain terminating inhibitor of HBV polymerase that delivers prolonged reduction of viremia in both a woodchuck HBV model and in humans up to six months after cessation of treatment. However, long-term clevudine treatment was found to exhibit reversible skeletal myopathy in a small subset of patients and was subsequently discontinued from development. ATI-2173 was designed by mod...

The interplay between thyroid and liver: implications for clinical practice
AbstractA complex relationship exists between thyroid and liver in health and disease. Liver plays an essential physiological role in thyroid hormone activation and inactivation, transport, and metabolism. Conversely, thyroid hormones affect activities of hepatocytes and hepatic metabolism. Serum liver enzyme abnormalities observed in hypothyroidism may be related to impaired lipid metabolism, hepatic steatosis or hypothyroidism-induced myopathy. Severe hypothyroidism may have biochemical and clinical features, such as hyperammonemia and ascites, mimicking those of liver failure. Liver function tests are frequently abnorma...

Severe Abdominal Manifestations in Juvenile Dermatomyositis
Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a rare and heterogeneous pediatric-onset idiopathic inflammatory myopathy. Gastrointestinal (GI) involvement occurs in 22% to 37% of JDM patients but has only been described in case reports. In this retrospective, single-center, observational study, we aimed to assess the causes and management of severe GI manifestations in JDM patients. We studied a cohort of 9 patients among 110 JDM patients followed during the study period (8.3%). The GI complications were related to JDM in most cases (17/19), with digestive tract involvement (n = 10), acute pancreatitis (n = 4), and hepatitis (...

EP.17Vaccination as possible trigger of anti-SRP mediated necrotizing myopathy - a case report
Immunomediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM) belongs to a heterogeneous group of inflammatory myopathies caused by myositis-specific autoantibodies including anti –3-hydroxy-3- methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (anti-HMGCR) and anti–single recognition particle (anti-SRP). IMNM anti-SRP typically presents with proximal weakness, myalgia, elevated CK and necrosis with absence of inflammation on muscle biopsy. Objective: to describe a case of IMNM anti-SRP positive after vaccination. A 42-year-old female complained of myalgia and muscle weakness affecting the neck and shoulder girdle 2 weeks after vaccination for Yellow fever, Teta...
