Abstract 228: Targeted Treatment of SIHD: Effectiveness of Personalized Learning-Based Medical Education Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusion: The statistically significant improvements in competence and performance of physicians observed in this study demonstrate the benefits of using personalized educational design to address clinicians’ individual learning needs in management of patients with SIHD. This type of intervention can translate into improvements in patient care. This assessment also suggests that additional education is needed to further narrow clinical gaps regarding risk assessment, optimizing medical therapy, the use of patient-directed tools, and strategies to address adherence in patients with SIHD.

CPD of the future: a partnership between quality improvement and competency ‐based education
ConclusionsWe propose that the future CPD system should adhere to the following principles: it should be grounded in the everyday workplace, integrated into the health care system, oriented to patient outcomes, guided by multiple sources of performance and outcome data, and team‐based; it should employ the principles and strategies of QI, and should be taken on as a collective responsibility by physicians, CPD provider organisations, regulators and the health system.

Continuing Medical Education in Neurology
Semin Neurol 2018; 38: 479-485 DOI: 10.1055/s-0038-1666978Continuing medical education (CME) is designed to keep physicians up-to-date on ever-changing practices and guidelines to provide patients with high quality care. CME is especially important in the field of neurology due to rapidly evolving knowledge and medical advances, and is a required element of maintenance of certification. CME itself has evolved from a passive, didactic approach to a learner-centered approach which utilizes new technologies, online learning, and simulations. CME improves knowledge, skills, and, to a lesser extent, patient outcomes, with multi...

The concept of errors in medical education: a scoping review
AbstractThe purpose of this scoping review was to explore how errors are conceptualized in medical education contexts by examining different error perspectives and practices. This review used a scoping methodology with a systematic search strategy to identify relevant studies, written in English, and published before January 2021. Four medical education journals (Medical Education, Advances in Health Science Education, Medical Teacher, and Academic Medicine) and four clinical journals (Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Annals of Surgery, and British Medical Journal) were pur...

Review of online educational resources for medical physicists
Medical physicists are often involved in the didactic training of graduate students, residents (both physics and physicians), and technologists. As part of continuing medical education, we are also involved in maintenance of certification projects to assist in the education of our peers. As such, it is imperative that we remain current concerning available educational resources. Medical physics journals offer book reviews, allowing us an opportunity to learn about newly published books in the field. A similar means of communication is not currently available for online educational resources. This information is conveyed th...

Common concepts in separate domains? Family physicians’ ways of understanding teaching patients and trainees, a qualitative study
Conclusions: Finding common ground between these two teaching roles would support knowledge translation and inquiry between the domains of teaching patients and trainees. It would furthermore open up new avenues for improving training and practice for clinical teachers by better linking faculty development and continuing medical education (CME).

The scholar role in the National Competence Based Catalogues of Learning Objectives for Undergraduate Medical Education (NKLM) compared to other international frameworks.
Conclusion: The scholar role of the NKLM differs from other international outcome frameworks. Discussing these results shall increase propagation and understanding of the NKLM and thus contribute to the qualification of future medical graduates in Germany. What Are We Looking for in Computer-Based Learning Interventions in Medical Education? A Systematic Review
Conclusions: Studies in this field vary highly, and a high number of software systems are being developed. It seems that past recommendations regarding CBL interventions are being taken into consideration. A move into a more student-centered model, a focus on implementing reusable software platforms for specific learning contexts, and the analysis of online activity to track and predict outcomes are relevant areas for future research in this field.

Choice of outcomes and measurement instruments in randomised trials on eLearning in medical education: a systematic mapping review protocol
DiscussionAppropriate choice of outcomes and measurement tools is essential for ensuring high-quality research in the field of eLearning and eHealth. The results of this study could have positive implications for other eHealth interventions, including (1) improving quality and credibility of eLearning research, (2) enhancing the quality of digital medical education and (3) informing researchers, academics and curriculum developers about the types of outcomes and validity evidence for measurement instruments used in eLearning studies. The protocol aspires to assist in the advancement of the eLearning research field as well ...

Information and Communication Technology, Mobile Devices, and Medical Education
AbstractInformation and communication technologies (ICT) are practical and highly available tools. In medical education, ICTs allow physicians to update their knowledge and remember the necessary information within reach of current mobile devices. ICTs as preparation tools for medical education have not been reported for medical students in Mexico. To assess the use of mobile devices as ICTs with medical education purposes, we distributed a questionnaire through an online survey management system to all the medical students (n = 180) from a private university in Mexico City, 100% agreed to participate. We developed a q...

Assessment and Feedback Methods in Competency-Based Medical Education
Graduate and continuing medical education programs have transitioned to a competency-based medical education (CBME) model, where abilities necessary for the practice of medicine, called competencies, are defined as learning outcomes. Each competency contains milestones that describe stages of development from novice to master and provide criteria for assessing learners along this continuum. Assessments in CBME are formative and are intended to assist learners in achieving the next stage in mastery rather than render a final evaluation.

A scoping review on the relationship between mental wellbeing and medical professionalism
CONCLUSION: The medical professionalism attributes were found to deteriorate as the mental wellbeing issues grow. This can harm medical students' overall health, current learning abilities and future attitudes towards their patients. Explicit primary research is thus required to examine and intervene in the cause-effect relationship between medical professionalism and mental wellbeing.PMID:36621960 | DOI:10.1080/10872981.2023.2165892
