Combining Languages in Bilingual Input: Using Experimental Evidence to Formulate Bilingual Exposure Strategies
CONCLUSIONS: Together, experimental studies of word learning indicate that bilingual children can effectively learn from dual-language input but that different ways of combining languages in the input to bilingual children can have distinct consequences for learning. Ultimately, word-learning experiments, beyond answering critical questions regarding bilingual learning, can serve as an effective bridge between laboratory-based work and intervention studies whose goal it is to discover the optimal way of combining languages in the input to bilingual children with communication impairments. Is cervical dysplasia a major concern in women with inflammatory bowel disease? A Spanish retrospective study
Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2023 Sep 21. doi: 10.17235/reed.2023.9890/2023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCervical cancer (CC) is the fourth most common cancer affecting women worldwide. The risk of women immunosuppressed due to AIDS or organ transplantation is well documented, as most cases are caused by persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and immunosuppression can prevent clearing HPV. Although European guidelines advise that inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) women under immunosuppression should be screened for CC as regularly as high-risk patients, quality evidence is lacking in our country. We performed a retrospect...

Artificial intelligence for telemedicine diabetic retinopathy screening: a review
CONCLUSIONS: Telemedicine and AI hold great promise for augmenting decision-making in medical care, expanding patient access and enhancing cost-effectiveness. Economic studies and social science analysis are crucial to support the implementation of AI in teleophthalmology screening programs. Promoting fairness and generalizability in automated systems combined with telemedicine screening programs is not straightforward. Improving data representativeness, reducing biases and promoting equity in deployment and post-deployment studies are all critical steps in model development.PMID:37734417 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2023.2258149
