Viruses, Vol. 15, Pages 1235: Ischaemic Stroke Occurring in a Patient Treated with Monoclonal Antibodies for COVID-19
In conclusion, among several side effects that have been described during the treatment of COVID-19 with sotrovimab, ischaemic stroke was not reported. Therefore, we here report a rare case of ischaemic stroke with early clinical manifestation after the administration of sotrovimab for the treatment of moderate COVID-19 in an immunocompromised patient for the first time.

Serious neurological adverse events following immunization against SARS-CoV-2: a narrative review of the literature
Ther Adv Drug Saf. 2023 May 21;14:20420986231165674. doi: 10.1177/20420986231165674. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTAmid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, massive immunization campaigns became the most promising public health measure. During clinical trials, certain neurological adverse effects following immunization (AEFIs) were observed; however, acceptable safety profiles lead to emergency authorization for the distribution and use of the vaccines. To contribute to pharmacovigilance and lessen the potential negative impact that vaccine hesitancy would have on immunization programs, we conducted a review of the...

Investigation of Neurological Complications after COVID-19 Vaccination: Report of the Clinical Scenarios and Review of the Literature
Vaccines (Basel). 2023 Feb 13;11(2):425. doi: 10.3390/vaccines11020425.ABSTRACTCoronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), broke out in 2019 and became a pandemic in 2020. Since then, vaccines have been approved to prevent severe illness. However, vaccines are associated with the risk of neurological complications ranging from mild to severe. Severe complications such as vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) associated with acute ischaemic stroke have been reported as rare complications post-COVID-19 vaccination. During the pandemic era, V...

Inactivated whole-virion SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and long-term clinical outcomes in patients with coronary atherosclerosis disease in China: a prospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicated no evidence of an increased ischemic or bleeding risk after vaccination with inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine among Chinese patients with CAD, with limited statistical power.PMID:36756815 | DOI:10.1093/cvr/cvad031

A case of ischemic stroke and transient thrombocytopenia in a young female following adenoviral vector-based COVID-19 vaccination: Was the association incidental or causal?
We report a 23-year-old healthy female who developed seizures, altered sensorium, and left hemiparesis, 20 days after receiving the first dose of adenoviral vector-based COVID-19 vaccine "Covishield™." The patient had transient thrombocytopenia. The D-dimer level was 2460 ng/mL. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated occlusion of M2 segment of the middle cerebral artery and cerebral infarction. Platelet factor-4 antibodies level was normal. Treatment with aspirin and antiepileptic drugs resulted in a remarkable recovery. This is the first Indian case report of ischemic stroke and transient thrombocytopenia followi...

Hereditary thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura and COVID-19: Impacts of vaccination and infection in this rare disease
DISCUSSION: The risk of an acute episode triggered by COVID-19 seems higher than following vaccination in hTTP patients, who can be safely vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2.PMID:36284639 | PMC:PMC9585384 | DOI:10.1002/rth2.12814

Carotid free-floating thrombus during COVID-19 vaccine era: causality or not?
AbstractCarotid free-floating thrombus (FFT) is very rarely diagnosed in patients with acute ischemic stroke. It is a real clinical emergency due to the significant risk of death associated with thromboembolic complications. Herein, we present three patients with ischemic stroke caused by carotid FFT after less than 20  days from administration of mRNA vaccine BNT162b1 (Pfizer/BioNTech) for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome—CoronaVirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). To our knowledge, these are the first cases reporting carotid FTT following SARS-CoV-2 vaccination.

The Hospitalization Rate of Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis before and during COVID-19 Pandemic Era: A Single-Center Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: Since there was a more dismal outcome in COVID-19 associated CVST, a high index of suspicion for CVST among COVID-19 positive is recommended.PMID:35523051 | PMC:PMC8947940 | DOI:10.1016/j.jstrokecerebrovasdis.2022.106468

Ischemic Stroke and Vaccine-Induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia following COVID-19 Vaccine: A Case Report with Systematic Review of the Literature
Conclusion: Our study points out that, in addition to cerebral venous thrombosis, adenoviral vector-based vaccines also appear to have a cerebral arterial thrombotic risk, and clinicians should be aware that ischemic stroke with LVO, although rare, could represent a clinical presentation of VITT.Cerebrovasc Dis

Cerebrovascular Complications of COVID-19 and COVID-19 Vaccination
Circ Res. 2022 Apr 15;130(8):1187-1203. doi: 10.1161/CIRCRESAHA.122.319954. Epub 2022 Apr 14.ABSTRACTThe risk of stroke and cerebrovascular disease complicating infection with SARS-CoV-2 has been extensively reported since the onset of the pandemic. The striking efforts of many scientists in cooperation with regulators and governments worldwide have rapidly brought the development of a large landscape of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2. The novel DNA and mRNA vaccines have offered great flexibility in terms of antigen production and led to an unprecedented rapidity in effective and safe vaccine production. However, as mass vac...
