Ischemic Stroke and Vaccine-Induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia following COVID-19 Vaccine: A Case Report with Systematic Review of the Literature
Conclusion: Our study points out that, in addition to cerebral venous thrombosis, adenoviral vector-based vaccines also appear to have a cerebral arterial thrombotic risk, and clinicians should be aware that ischemic stroke with LVO, although rare, could represent a clinical presentation of VITT.Cerebrovasc Dis

Viruses, Vol. 15, Pages 1235: Ischaemic Stroke Occurring in a Patient Treated with Monoclonal Antibodies for COVID-19
In conclusion, among several side effects that have been described during the treatment of COVID-19 with sotrovimab, ischaemic stroke was not reported. Therefore, we here report a rare case of ischaemic stroke with early clinical manifestation after the administration of sotrovimab for the treatment of moderate COVID-19 in an immunocompromised patient for the first time.

Treatment of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Vaccine-Induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia Related Acute Ischemic Stroke
We report clinical, laboratory, imaging findings and treatment in a 51-year-old female presenting with acute left middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion 7 days after the first dose of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine.

A case of ischemic stroke and transient thrombocytopenia in a young female following adenoviral vector-based COVID-19 vaccination: Was the association incidental or causal?
We report a 23-year-old healthy female who developed seizures, altered sensorium, and left hemiparesis, 20 days after receiving the first dose of adenoviral vector-based COVID-19 vaccine "Covishield™." The patient had transient thrombocytopenia. The D-dimer level was 2460 ng/mL. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated occlusion of M2 segment of the middle cerebral artery and cerebral infarction. Platelet factor-4 antibodies level was normal. Treatment with aspirin and antiepileptic drugs resulted in a remarkable recovery. This is the first Indian case report of ischemic stroke and transient thrombocytopenia followi...

Cerebrovascular Complications of COVID-19 and COVID-19 Vaccination
Circ Res. 2022 Apr 15;130(8):1187-1203. doi: 10.1161/CIRCRESAHA.122.319954. Epub 2022 Apr 14.ABSTRACTThe risk of stroke and cerebrovascular disease complicating infection with SARS-CoV-2 has been extensively reported since the onset of the pandemic. The striking efforts of many scientists in cooperation with regulators and governments worldwide have rapidly brought the development of a large landscape of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2. The novel DNA and mRNA vaccines have offered great flexibility in terms of antigen production and led to an unprecedented rapidity in effective and safe vaccine production. However, as mass vac...

Carotid free-floating thrombus during COVID-19 vaccine era: causality or not?
AbstractCarotid free-floating thrombus (FFT) is very rarely diagnosed in patients with acute ischemic stroke. It is a real clinical emergency due to the significant risk of death associated with thromboembolic complications. Herein, we present three patients with ischemic stroke caused by carotid FFT after less than 20  days from administration of mRNA vaccine BNT162b1 (Pfizer/BioNTech) for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome—CoronaVirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). To our knowledge, these are the first cases reporting carotid FTT following SARS-CoV-2 vaccination.

Serious neurological adverse events following immunization against SARS-CoV-2: a narrative review of the literature
Ther Adv Drug Saf. 2023 May 21;14:20420986231165674. doi: 10.1177/20420986231165674. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTAmid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, massive immunization campaigns became the most promising public health measure. During clinical trials, certain neurological adverse effects following immunization (AEFIs) were observed; however, acceptable safety profiles lead to emergency authorization for the distribution and use of the vaccines. To contribute to pharmacovigilance and lessen the potential negative impact that vaccine hesitancy would have on immunization programs, we conducted a review of the...

Cerebral Venous Thrombosis after BNT162b2 mRNA SARS ‑CoV‑2 vaccine
We report two cases of cerebral venous thrombosis, shortly after administration of mRNA vaccine. In both patients, there was no evidence of thrombocytopenia or antiplatelet antibodies, and alternative causes for cerebral venous thrombosis were found.

Safety of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in patients with Behcet ’s syndrome and familial Mediterranean fever: a cross-sectional comparative study on the effects of M-RNA based and inactivated vaccine
AbstractMost of the published data relate to classical forms of rheumatic diseases (RD) and information on rare inflammatory disorders such as Beh çet’s syndrome (BS) and familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is limited. We studied the frequency of side effects and disease flares after COVID-19 vaccination with either Pfizer/BioNTech or Sinovac/CoronaVac in 256 patients with BS, 247 with FMF, and 601 with RD. Telephone interviews were conducte d using a questionnaire survey in a cross-sectional design in patients with BS, FMF, and RD followed by a single university hospital. Study participants were vaccinated either with C...
