Cn-20 * bevacizumab causing recurrent cerebral infarction in a patient with glioblastoma: a previously undocumented phenomenon
CONCLUSIONS: Here we describe a case of an ischemic stroke with radiographic correlate while on bevacizumab, with clinical improvement arrested by the development of a recurrent stroke when bevacizumab was restarted. Interestingly, the distal arteries within the stroke bed appeared somewhat attentuated, suggestive of radiation vasculopathy. This case, describing a previously undocumented phenomenon, raises the possibility of a synergistic effect of bevacizumab and radiation vasculopathy. Cystatin C takes part in melanoma-microglia cross-talk:  possible implications for brain metastasis
AbstractThe development of melanoma brain metastasis is largely dependent on mutual interactions between the melanoma cells and cells in the brain microenvironment. Here, we report that the extracellular cysteine protease inhibitor cystatin C (CysC) is involved in these interactions. Microglia-derived factors upregulated CysC secretion by melanoma. Similarly, melanoma-derived factors upregulated CysC secretion by microglia. CONCLUSIONS: In a large and contemporary analysis of female patients seen in French hospitals, women with history of breast cancer had higher risk of all-cause mortality, new onset heart failure and major bleeding compared to a matched cohort of women without breast cancer. CONCLUSION: Cardiac metastases are rare and non-myxomatous tumor embolization to the brain even rarer especially in the setting of cerebral infarction due to pulmonary vein thrombus. Here we describe a case of multiple acute cerebral infarctions appearing from a proximal source refractory to anticoagulation. CONCLUSIONS: Long-term exposure to PM2.5, NO2, and BC was positively associated with natural-cause and cause-specific mortality in the pooled cohort and the administrative cohorts. Associations were found well below current limit values and guidelines for PM2.5 and NO2. Cardiovascular outcomes among patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer: A comparative safety study using US administrative claims data
CONCLUSIONS: Our study sought to quantify risk of HHF, AMI and ischemic stroke among CRPC patients initiating AAP relative to ENZ within a national administrative claims database. Increased risk for HHF among AAP compared to ENZ users was observed. The difference in myocardial infarction did not attain statistical significance after controlling for residual bias, and no differences were noted in ischemic stroke between the two treatments.
