Risk of fractures after stroke: Results from the Ontario Stroke Registry
Conclusions: Stroke is associated with an increased risk of low-trauma fractures. Individuals with stroke and additional risk factors for fractures may benefit from targeted screening for low bone mineral density and initiation of treatment for fracture prevention.

Associations between stroke type, stroke severity, and pre-stroke osteoporosis with the risk of post-stroke fracture: A nationwide population-based study
BackgroundRecognizing the post-stroke fracture risk factors is crucial for targeted intervention and primary fracture prevention. We aimed to investigate whether stroke types, stroke severity, and pre-stroke osteoporosis are associated with post-stroke fracture.MethodsIn a nationwide cohort, we identified previously fracture-free patients who suffered from first-ever stroke, either acute ischemic stroke (AIS) or intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), between 2003 and 2015. Information regarding stroke severity, osteoporosis, comorbidity, and medication information was collected.

Hip fracture after first‐ever stroke: a population‐based study
ConclusionsThese findings imply that osteoporosis may play a major role in the occurrence of hip fracture in the first four years after a first‐ever stroke. Early intervention to prevent bone loss should be regarded as an important part in stroke management, especially in older females, and should be sustained for four years at least. The benefit of antidepressants in stroke patients should be weighed against the increased risk of hip fracture.

Correlation between tibial measurements using peripheral quantitative computed tomography and hip areal bone density measurements in ambulatory chronic stroke patients.

Carotid plaque thickness is positively associated with decreased bone mineral density (P2.264)

The effects of neuromuscular facilitation techniques on osteoporosis of hemiplegia limbs and serum leptin level in patients or rats with cerebral infarction.

Unusual association between lysinuric protein intolerance and moyamoya vasculopathy.
CONCLUSION: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of an association between moyamoya vasculopathy and LPI. While the question of association or coincidence cannot yet be answered, several pathophysiological consequences of LPI can be defined as separate, such as links between the impact of low arginine levels on the function of vascular endothelium and brain nitric oxide metabolism, as well as hemophagocytic syndrome associated with the risk of vasculitis, thus accounting for the development of moyamoya vasculopathy.
