The outcome of patients with acute stroke requiring intensive care unit admission
Conclusions: The need for mechanical ventilation and hypertension were independent predictors of high mortality in patients admitted to the ICU with acute stroke.

MnTBAP reduces pulmonary vascular remodeling in experimental pulmonary arterial hypertension
Conclusion: MnTBAP treatment can partly reverse RV afterload and pulmonary vascular remodeling in established experimental PAH. Together with the improved cardiac function, MnTBAP may be a promising intervention for PAH.

Late Breaking Abstract - The effect of exercise rehabilitation on cardiac function, measured by cardiac MRI, in patients with pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension
Conclusion: Exercise rehabilitation in pre-capillary PH led to significant improvements in cardiac output, stroke volume and right ventricular ejection fraction (EF). Small numbers limited results. Further work is required to assess long term benefits.

Which cardiovascular diseases are most influenced by smoking - a cohort retrospective study
Conclusion: This study suggests that smoking may have a greater impact on the development of stroke (p = 0.012) and HBP (p = 0.025). Smoking also has an impact on the development of AMI, but on a smaller scale (p=0.042). Higher PY values are also influencing the development of CVD (p = 0.035). There was no statistically significant variation between the two groups in the development of DM2.

Predictors of physical activity in pulmonary arterial and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension
Conclusions: Daily physical activity as steps/day assessed in patients newly diagnosed with PAH/CTEPH did not well correlate with invasive hemodynamics at rest nor during exercise, but very well with the 6MWD. Whether daily activity assessments provide additional information to simple walk distance on risk factor profiles during follow-up in patients with PAH/CTEPH remains to be clarified.

Impact of PAP in reducing cardiovascular events in OSA patients: a 10-years follow-up
Conclusions: Although AHI presented an immediate and sustained decrease with PAP treatment, only an effective PAP adherence (especially after 24 months) seems to be effective in decreasing CV/CeV events, especially when used for more than 6 years.

COPD as an additional risk factor for cardiovascular and respiratory events in patients with respiratory viral infection
Conclusion: There is no association between respiratory viral infection and COPD with the development of CVE or RE one year after positive virus PCR, regardless of previous CVRF. Both patients with CVRF without COPD and women with CVRF have more CVE.

Airflow Obstruction and Cardio-metabolic Comorbidities.
In conclusion, the associations of CVD and hypertension with airflow obstruction in the general population are largely explained by age and smoking habits. The adjusted risk for diabetes is lower in subjects with airflow obstruction.
