Risk of Stroke in Long-term Dialysis Patients Compared With the General Population
Conclusions: Patients undergoing dialysis are at elevated risk of stroke. Patients undergoing PD appear to be less likely to develop hemorrhagic stroke than those undergoing HD. Comprehensive control of hypertension and diabetes is necessary when delivering dialysis treatment.

Abstract Beyond the original meaning of chronic kidney disease (CKD) as high-risk state for future dialysis, CKD is now known as an established risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Stroke is a major player of cardiovascular disease and has deep two-way relationships with CKD. CKD is an evident risk factor for stroke. Abstract Stroke is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Traditional cardiovascular risk factors - hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia - are related to the incidence of stroke. Serum lipoprotein(a) and risk of hemorrhagic stroke among incident peritoneal dialysis patients: a large study from a single center in China.

Renal Function Predicts Outcomes in Patients with Ischaemic Stroke and Haemorrhagic Stroke
Conclusions: Patients with haemorrhagic stroke, in particular with acute kidney injury during hospitalisation had significantly worse outcomes than patients with ischaemic stroke. Assessment of kidney function is prerequisite to employ the necessary measures to decrease the risk of in-hospital mortality among patients with acute stroke. Appropriate approach to patients with renal dysfunction (adequate hydration, avoidance of nephrotoxic drugs, drug dose adjustment etc) should be considered as preventive and therapeutic strategies in the management of acute stroke.Kidney Blood Press Res 2016;41:424-433

Survey and Risk Factors for Lower Urinary Tract Storage Symptoms in Middle‐Aged and Older Stroke Patients in Urban China
ConclusionsOur study identified not only putative risk factors for LUTS in middle‐aged and elderly stroke patients, but genuine factors including snoring, living environment and educational background that increased the odds of storage symptoms as well. We identified that regular exercise and living with their children were protective factors for storage symptoms in stroke patients.

Risk of stroke in first-ever acute urinary retention: A 10-year population-based study
Conclusion There was significant difference in the risk of stroke between patients with and without AUR. Preventive measures should be taken for patients with AUR, which may be associated with an increased risk of subsequent stroke. Large-scale population-based studies in other countries and regions are recommended.

Impact of atrial fibrillation on the risk of ischemic stroke in patients on hemodialysis: BOREAS-HD3 Study
ConclusionPresent analyses using comprehensive adjustment for multiple confounders, including prior history of ischemic stroke, indicated that AF independently increases the risk of new-onset of ischemic stroke by more than twofold in Japanese HD patients.

Impact of dialysis modality on the survival of patients with end-stage renal disease and prior stroke
Conclusions PD was associated with overall poorer survival among patients with diabetes, ESRD and prior stroke and with similar overall survival among patients with ESRD and prior stroke, but without diabetes, compared with HD.

The impact of comorbidity on survival after hemorrhagic stroke among dialysis patients: a nationwide population-based study
Conclusions: Dialysis patients who have history of prior stroke, diabetes and malignancy have worse survival than patients without these comorbidities. Attention must focus on providing optimal medical care after hemorrhagic stroke for these target groups to reduce mortality.
