Contact allergy in the population of patients with chronic inflammatory dermatoses and contact hypersensitivity to corticosteroids.
CONCLUSIONS: The most important risk factors for developing contact allergy to corticosteroids appear to be chronic inflammatory dermatoses, long disease duration, extended on-and-off topical corticosteroid use, patients presenting two or more positive patch test results and polyvalent contact allergy to metal salts and to other non-steroidal haptens. Multimorbidity in Asthma, Allergic Conditions and COPD Increase Disease Severity, Drug Use and Costs: The Finnish Pharmacy Survey
Conclusions: In asthma and allergy, multimorbidity and polypharmacy are major concerns. Disease severity, drug use, and costs increased with multimorbid conditions. To reduce the burden, allergy management should be better integrated and more comprehensive.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

Early-life exposure to air pollution associated with food allergy in children: Implications for 'one allergy' concept
CONCLUSION: Early-life exposure to high levels of outdoor and indoor air pollution in China due to the rapid economic growth and fast urbanization in the past decades may contribute to the rapid increase of food allergy (FA) in children. Our study indicates that, in addition to gut and skin, airway may be a new route of food sensitization. Air pollution leads to the first and second waves of allergy epidemics, suggesting a concept of 'one allergy' disease.PMID:36347392 | DOI:10.1016/j.envres.2022.114713

Dietary interventions for primary allergy prevention - what is the evidence?
Abstract Allergen exposure in the early postnatal life of an infant with a genetic predisposition for allergy is regarded as at least one essential risk factor for later development of allergic diseases. The most important allergen exposure in early life derives from the early nutrition of the baby. Thus, intervention based on the concept of reducing the allergen load in the diet is one approach for primary allergy prevention in children at risk. This includes breastfeeding, allergen-reduced diet of the pregnant and lactating mother, cow milk protein hydrolysate infant formulas (= hypoallergenic infant formula or ...

No association between allergy and current 25‐hydroxy vitamin D in serum or vitamin D intake
ConclusionThe findings suggest no association between allergy and 25OHD levels in serum or vitamin D intake in adolescents. Serum 25OHD levels correlated to intake of vitamin D fortified lean milk. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Estimating the prevalence of aero-allergy and/or food allergy in infants, children and young people with moderate-to-severe atopic eczema/dermatitis in primary care: multi-centre, cross-sectional study
Conclusions Although atopic eczema/dermatitis is a very common diagnosis in children in primary care, most appear to be relatively mild and/or transient. Only a small proportion of children had evidence of ongoing underlying IgE-mediated atopic eczema/dermatitis.

Adult asthma, allergy and eczema in Stockholm (3HE-study)-associations with energy use, building characteristics and home environment factors
In conclusion, asthma, allergies or eczema among adults in Stockholm are more common in buildings with less energy use for space heating, in larger buildings and in apartments with recent redecoration, mould odour, water leakage and humid air. Dampness, mould, redecoration and increased energy efficiency in buildings may have consequences for asthma and allergy.

Association of Season of Birth with DNA Methylation and Allergic Disease
ConclusionsThis study demonstrates that DNA methylation in adulthood is associated with season of birth, supporting the hypothesis that DNA methylation could mechanistically underlie the effect of season of birth on allergy, though other mechanisms are also likely to be involved. This article is protected by copyright. Relationships between acrylamide and glycidamide hemoglobin adduct levels and allergy-related outcomes in general US population, NHANES 2005-2006.
CONCLUSIONS: This study indicated significant associations between HbAA and HbGA levels and the likelihoods of allergy-related outcomes in the general US population, depending on age, gender and smoke exposure status. These findings suggested potential public health concerns for the widespread exposure to acrylamide. PMID: 28325597 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Contact allergy to methylisothiazolinone/methylchloroisothiazolinone: A retrospective case series in a referral center in northern Taiwan
Conclusion According to our study, the incidence of MI/MCI contact allergy in a referral center in Taiwan was 5.4%. A trend of increasing incidence of contact allergy to MI/MCI was noted after 2005, which is consistent with the findings in Europe. Allergic contact dermatitis to MI/MCI should be suspected in patients who have eczema on the hands and face, especially those who are aromatherapists.

Infant feeding patterns and eczema in children in the first 6 years of life
Conclusions & Clinical RelevanceMixed infant feeding may carry a higher risk of eczema/skin allergy compared to direct feeding at the breast. The recent epidemic of pumping and feeding in the United States and the use of mixed infant feeding modes requires additional studies to provide appropriate and renewed assessments of the risks of feeding modes for the future development of allergies. This article is protected by copyright.
